I don't think I've ever seen Phoebe Bridgers when she wasn't dressed as a skeleton, so I suppose it's a good thing it's Hallowe'en season and not some other holiday.

Oh, who am I kidding? These people can show up for any holiday they want.

Susan Sarandon (who played Janet) being in this made my day.

Excellent!

Also, I can't help but think that when Jack Black dies, it'll be from a stroke he has while singing.

At long last, I have found my Bassets for Obama equivalent for 2020.

(Also: I am extremely sad that Bernie is not in this, because he has perfect Transylvanian hair.)

That was great, thanks for posting. Quite a collection of talent in there, from many places. But Jack Black... one of a kind, that guy.

This was a treat!

My husband couldn’t resist getting in a snark on Buttigieg: “Yeah, he NEEDS to make a jump to the left.”

As for Sarandon... yeah, point well taken, lisa g. I’m hoping she understands a little better what’s at stake now.

Also, I can't help but think that when Jack Black dies, it'll be from a stroke he has while singing.

For an actor, he's incredibly talented as a singer. He crushed "Let's Get It On" in High Fidelity as Sonic Death Monkey Kathleen Turner Overdrive Barry Jive & The Uptown Five. (Full version.) But I'm not sure he would've made it as just a singer.

Posted on Facebook with a trigger warning:
Caution: contains severe shirtless Jack Black imagery.

Too much beefcake, or not enough?

The last three are properly ordered this way, if I'm not mistaken:

Ilana Glazer
King Princess
Peaches

But I'm not sure he would've made it as just a singer.

My friend - this is "The Time Warp". This song does not call for technical skill as such. It calls for commitment. And Jack Black has commitment in spadefuls.

I was trying to think of the right word and committed seems to hit the target dead on.

This is really fun, and brightened my day. The Riff Raff wig is perfect.

For more RHPS , there is going to be a livestream Saturday night, with appearances by Tim Curry (!) and others from the original cast, plus a slew of celebrities - more info here.

As a side note, the 1973 Pro Roe shirt that Peaches has on can be bought here, and I can vouch that it's a nice soft Tshirt.

Find someone who will look at you the way Jack Black looks at his microphone.

Then get a restraining order against them.

Jack Black would be the result if Mick Fleetwood and Chris Farley had a baby.

The real winner of this video is the drummer. Who is that?!

My roommate saw the Fox live restaging they had recently, and says he was lukewarm on it...when I showed him this he said that "I didn't know that what the live version needed was Jack Black." (He can see Jack as Eddie, but "man, he SELLS Riff-Raff really well!")

...Every time "The Time Warp" comes up I am reminded of Mardi Gras 2009, where I somehow ended up in a bar with three girls from Michigan and we danced the Time Warp. When the song was over they all praised me for "wow, you knew all the steps!" ....I was a little too full of drunken good will to point out that "uh, the song TELLS YOU what the steps are."

I never thought this would be a song I would wish was longer, but there you go. Jack Black absolutely killed that song and then went back and drove over the bodies a couple of times more. And I loved the cameos.

I wish I believed something like this would actually get a non-voter to actually vote, though.

when i was in eighth grade, i saw tenacious D, Jimmy Eat World, and Weezer in concert, and Jack Black jumping up to punch the satan backdrop in the dick during his act really is a highlight of my live music attendance career.

the man commits

Yeah, is that more than just Tenacious D? I thought it was just two guys. The bassist looked really familiar, and who was the second singer? Meatloaf?

You're not wrong. Here's hoping it'll provide some critical voters the necessary morale boost to keep their place in an hours-long line.

Yes, the two guys generally have a backup band, and often it's Dave Grohl on the drums. I don't know who these guys are, but they shred.

The second singer is KG (Kyle Gass), who is the second official member of Tenacious D besides Jack Black.

1. This is GREAT.
2. I apparently have achieved sufficient distance from popular culture that I have no idea who about half of these people are.
4. It may not convince many non-voters to vote (although surely even a handful would be worthwhile?), but I am also in favor of celebrating voting in general, and having a ton of fun, those of us who have already gotten to vote time warping at the top of our lungs.
3. Is there any possible chance at all that this could invoke a REAL time warp, in which we reset the timeline to, like, 2014? Please?
5. This is GREAT!

Thank you for posting this, metabaroque!

Even if it doesn't convince a single non-voter to vote, it's encouraging Democratic supporters -- look at the guest list! -- who probably at least intend to vote, and that's good.

It does reinforce that voting to put control of this country back into the majority of the people's hands is a fun and joyous thing to do, and totally rocks besides. And it also sends that message to the opposition -- that we're coming for their power, not with guns, but with votes (and votes that will likely bring policies that benefit many Republicans voters as well).

And yes, it is great. I've collected Facebook friends from all over, and it's been an utter joy to see how many of them, many of whom I've never met, share this same clip.

This is so fun! How much fun have I had lately? Not enough, that's for damn sure. I did not recognize Jack Black because I haven't seen him in any movie for years and had never heard of Tenacious D before. I love Back's voice in this and also his hellacious vibration in front of the mic. Thanks for the awesome post. A+++ would listen to again (and have, several times).

On Saturday night there will be a fundraising livestream of Rocky Horror, hosted by Tim Curry and including:
Barry Bostwick, Wilmer Valderrama, Colleen Ballinger, Lance Bass, Rosario Dawson, Jason George, Nell Campbell, Seth Green, Jason Alexander, David Arquette, and more!

Featuring performances by Fall Out Boy, Bob Weir & Wolf Bros, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, The Dresden Dolls, Miss Peppermint, Frankie Grande, Eiza Gonzalez, Ben Barnes, Jenna Ushkowitz, Rachel Bloom, Garrett Clayton, Karen Olivo, Keala Settle, Marissa Jaret Winkour, Madison Uphoff, Graham Phillips, Kalen Chase, Rumer Willis, & more.
They're suggesting a donation of $31—which if I can editorialize for a moment feels like a big ask for a charity event that's only three days before the election—but I think you can get access no matter what you pledge.

Commitment. That’s the right word. Even just vocally, he’s hanging out in the top of the range for a tenor—the chorus is belting out As and Bs (well, the one “low” G), over and over again. And while I as a tenor can do that in a pinch, I’d be on the floor by the end of the whole song.

I love Jack Black the Actor (most finely on display here as well), but I worship at the altar of Jack Black the Rock God Vocalist Incarnate. I just don’t know anyone else in this day and age who embodies the archetype as well as he does. He stomps on the terra.
