I find sympathetic media portrayals of mafioso interesting. Using the proceeds of gangsterism to buy a zoo or sidewalks, here -- or in the US, buying turkeys at Christmas for the neighborhood, say. Journalists don't seem to be as interested in how people get exploited along the path to this generosity; human sex trafficking, feeding drug addiction, usury. All of it funnels money up to a handful of "brave", charismatic tough guys.

On the one hand, I agree with the above comment. On the other hand, I have a long-standing fascination with Jewish gangsters of the 20s and 30s and I just kind of think Meyer Lansky is neat, okay?
