Dog found after being lost in the bush

I am astonished that someone can eat wild mushrooms in Australia and not die, either from mycological toxicity, or from Australian fauna thinking "here's someone obviously suicidal, better put him out of his misery".

I'm amazed that someone on their way home from the pub in the middle of summer can suddenly get lost for 18 days.

Oh gosh, that is a happy ending! Thank you for posting this. Where I live, the environment can also be very inhospitable to lost hikers, and we have had a few deaths this year, so it's nice to read a story of a hiker being found alive. It's especially remarkable after he was lost for so long. Brave soul to be eating mushrooms, but maybe he knew how to recognize the safe ones. And it was lovely that his dog was also found alive and they can be reunited!

It’s risky, but if you’re going to be in trouble for staying out late, it might be worth a shot to just lean into it.

My dad picked mushrooms and my mom said no. He is 94. That can't be the reason.

Random Gympie mushrooms? Chances are this outing changed from "being lost" to "being on a mind-altering psychedelic spirit journey". Doubt he even realised he was out there for two weeks.
Very glad the pup is ok!
