we did a rewatch recently & were shocked to discover that what we thought of as the plot of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was a story Dick van Dyke tells his girlfriend and his kids while they're hanging out in a car that 100% does not fly

I am willing to bet that, at least once during a stale-coffee-fueled late-night songwriting session, at least one Sherman Brother referred to the car as “Shitty Shitty Bang Bang.”

I loved, loved, freaking loved the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, to the point that, when I needed speech therapy as a young child, the therapist used C²B² merch as reinforcement materials. Kind of disappointed as a grown-up rewatching it for the first time in decades that it didn't age well, although the Child Catcher still had a certain amount of ghastly power.
