Not anywhere near enough. But more than I expected.

Combining the above with this (more openly-opinionated, Michael Harriot is a treasure) piece, quoting Financial Times; only ~$250 million out of $50 billion pledged in corporate racial equity spending actually went out. Reminiscent of all the camera-ready billionaire pledges to rebuild Notre Dame, vs. how much actually got donated.

But it provides a useful benchmark. On the odds, there's about a 1 in 200 chance that a big public promise will be followed-through on once the spotlight's off.

A marine holds the door for Gianna Floyd as she enters the White House.

She said 'my daddy changed the world' last year. The family met with Biden today, so we'll see. Certainly one thing has changed at the White House.

I expect the viral videos to continue.

A year ago was the beginning of almost 200 days of straight protests in my city, which the federal government occupied and, in alliance with the police, savagely went after the citizens. I’m proud to say I went toe-to-toe against my government, although the trauma is a bit too much to handle at times. I spent the day at the bar reminiscing by myself. I’m sorry, George Floyd.

An anecdote from my native Norway; my parents, in their 60s/70s, has been very positive towards the US all their lives, had relatives who emigrated, my father has an interest in American cars (currently owns a 1950 Buick Special), regarded the Confederate flag as a fun symbol of individualism and cheekiness (I blame The Dukes of Hazzard) and even they have become aware the last years of both socio-economic and racial issues in the US.
