Everybody knows her by the nickname of la Chona

The catchy 1995 Norteño/pop hit song "La Chona" by Los Tucanes de Tijuana has been covered hundreds of times by both professional and amateur musicians. There are also remixes and parodies. Of course, one can also just dance to it. The brave may choose to dance with moving vehicles by participating in the La Chona Challenge, which is risky but can be glorious. On occasion, it may become a little bit silly.

One could instead take part in the closely related the Kiki challenge. (Notably including police and soldiers, not without criticism.) There are many, sometimes surprising response videos. Also, very silly ones. There are also other songs.

[Note: includes a self-dupe, which I realize is bad form. But, it's been two years and I couldn't resist including it.]

Came looking for some Tio Choko and wasn't disappointed. He was my own personal gateway to La Chona.

Was looking up how the challenge started (Shiggy’s In My Feelings), and found out that Mexican police are warning against it: Apparently it’s dangerous (!) and breaks at least 4 laws (!). In Mexico City you can be fined 5,000 pesos (about $250!) or spend 36 hours in jail (!) (Also Los Tucanes are worried that someone might get hurt.) Que tengan cuidad!!

I also now realize that I failed to include the child's tube-fed melodica video that I can't find again . . . and, also that you can sing Casey at the Bat to this tune. Which is a mash-up that someone else should spend time making.
