Five YouTubers play five games for $(US)10,000

Five YouTubers. Five games. $10,000. ⋮ Money: the full series - YouTube. It's an hour long but five different rounds so you can take a break.

Tom Scott's latest game has $(US)10,000 on the table to play for. Cooperation, Betrayal, Skills are all on the table.

Loved the concept of the game (I like everything Tom Scott does), but would like to see it played by people without monetized YouTube channels who have an incentive to "not be a jerk" or possibly lose viewers.

A lot of the games were interesting. I didn't like the 3rd game, because the dominant strategy is always to put in zero. Your opponents will know you did that at the end, but knowing you're a cheater at the end of the third of four games is not too bad.

With the option to actually scoot with the briefcase at the end, well, that's a matter of winnings versus social pressure.

It would have been interesting to see if the final offer was 1200/1200/1200/0, just to see if three votes would be made regardless.

would like to see it played by people without monetized Adblockers, I don't know what you're talking about ;) One of the reasons I also like TS is way old not doing the YT money thing, but I think one can't really do that anymore. Like seriously there's an old episode of his stuff back in the days saying NOPE to all of that "make money on YT" stuff. It's probably impossible now, I don't think he can change that part but would likely not fault you for avoiding it with a browser plugin.

knowing you're a cheater at the end of the third of four games is not too bad That's the game and not the game. The game is to take as much of the $(US)10,000 as possible. It's still friends-ish and money. They could have taken the whole 10k if they did it right.

They got pretty close, ah the playing of games with stakes. Not your friendly chess match.

Definitely want to see the same game played by more random folks, people who aren't all friends, aren't all thoughtful and empathetic, etc. Then again, don't really want to see a bunch of jerks getting a payout. Hmm...

I don’t think the request to see it played by non-YouTubers hs anything to do with whether or not Tom Scott makes money off this video.

Rather, it’s pretty clear in the last game that outside factors are affecting the game itself; these people are all basically colleagues/minor public figures, so their reputations with each other and with us as viewers are on the line. And that’s worth a lot more than a few thousand dollars (over a lifetime of being a successful YouTuber).

Mr Nat and I did have an interesting conversation about if the “nothing ever dies” and “you can always be found” aspects of the game would provide incentive for good behavior even to total randos. It certainly would give *me* a pretty strong incentive, but then I look at the internet and see plenty of people willing to do atrocious things in their own names.
