Nitsch's music is often very meditative and beautiful and would probably appeal to a lot of people not interested in the ceremonial blood-and-guts work he's best known for.

Here's a nice, longer video (24 mins) I found of one of his actions from 1978. The content warnings definitely apply here!

I used to run into him at Cafe Museum in Vienna back in the 80’s. I figured he’d be eternal. He used to throw these amazing openings.

Seeing as it's Bandcamp Friday, here are some Nitsch recordings on that platform:

Trost Records has a symphony for preorder plus an excellent string quartet, an amazing organ concert and two aktion recordings.

The most excellent Tochnit Aleph has eight albums... check the rest of their catalogue too, much rare German sound art/sound poetry and a lot of music by various Schimpfluch-Gruppe affiliates - definitely in the same wheelhouse.

AngelicA has the last organ concert recording from their festival in Bologna in 2019.
