That was fantastic, but the best bit comes at the very end.

There is so much here, I need to sit and digest my mental food. I have so much to say about this, but for now, thank you. This is an amazing find.

In a just world this guy would be handsomely remunerated for his talents. Maybe he is? Who knows.

Amazing.

(How long until the "we found drunk Mel!" video from some bubbly influencer? Hopefully on YT and not tiktok.)

The worst part of this video was after the end, when I went to see his other videos. Sadly this is the only one.

I have to concede. I have nothing to say about this that it doesn't say for itself.

Though I will say something about the final 12 seconds of this video, which features a very young girl singing 'painting, painting, PAINTIIIGNNGG!

Mel is the Road Warrior in Mad Max. Except in Mad Max: Fury Road. He wasn't invited. Max wasn't even the main character. That would be Furiosa, played by Charlise Theron. Furiosa led a charge for freedom with her enslaved sisters, only to find an elderly sisterhood in the wasteland. She then led them back to where she started to overthrow the patriarchy. Which she fucking DID, liberating everyone.

Mad Max Fury Road is a feminist movie. It was filmed in my Australia, and we're filming the prequel, FURIOSA, here too. Anya Taylor-Joy is playing Furiosa this time. MEL IS NOT INVITED.

The Road Warrior? Yeah, this is probaly the last best depiction of Mad Max that Mel will ever do. Mad Max, drunk and angry about jews while cops roll their eyes.

Meanwhile the legend of Mad Max is about a new generation painting painting PAAAIIINTING over the patriarchy.

This is one of the greatest videos I've ever seen. When I saw how long it was, I wasn't going to watch it all (I'm supposed to be working) but it was so compelling and his narration was so good, I couldn't stop. Just fantastic.

I rolled my eyes when he trotted out a bit of the old enlightened centrism during his brief discourse on American politics, but on the other hand he DID spend 19 minutes methodically, lovingly rubbing Mel Gibson's nose in his own rancid bigotry. In the hopes that no one forgets or remains in ignorance of the jaw-droppingly heinous shit that motherfucker said fifteen years ago... cheers to this.

May Mel Gibson's career never, ever recover.

More acidic, cheerful cynicism than centrism.

Everything he has done is wonderful and fantastic, his build skills and artistic talent are all amazing.

But as a pedant, and someone who really loves modelling, I do not understand why these larger scale and/or more "artist" type modelmakes pay such minimal attention to the painting?! Look at all the effort with the cliff face, we know he knows how to blend and weather. So why do the key central figurines, who he has poured so much love and effort into, seem to just get a basecoat slapped on and that's it? No shading, no effort at textural or tonal variety, no washes.

Check out Uncle Nightshift on YT for some master level model painting.

But again, beautiful work and loved watching this artist!

“Siri, show me great crafting with soothing ASMR narration, biting commentary on fame, and some light political humour.”

May Mel Gibson's career never, ever recover.

A survey of IMDb reveals that, without even any conscious effort at boycott on my part, it has now been more than twenty years since I have seen Mel Gibson onscreen.

I am okay with this.

The bit with the police car drove me nuts, because there are KITS for all that. Or you could 3D print a police car and save yourself hours and hours of work! It's presumably not some artistic integrity, I-must-make-everything-myself thing, because he just downloaded the cop. Watching somebody meticulously build a miniature police car from scratch was like watching somebody trim their lawn with nail scissors. Just... WHY? Do you think you'll live forever?!

I found the guy's narration strangely off-putting. Like, I admired his skill but the affected, hard-bitten persona made him seem like somebody I just wouldn't get along with. If you want ASMR crafting videos delivered by an irresistibly charming oddball, I'd recommend the Crafsman. He has a voice like honey barbecue sauce, and whenever we see him he looks suspiciously like a felt puppet. He's a real sweetie who knows his crafs, ya'all.

Important aside: Mel Gibson does not have an autobiography called "Acting My Way All the Way To the Top". He doesn't have an autobiography at all.

Years ago my mum and I were watching an interview with Mel, and I said something about how arrogant he was and my mum responded with 'no the exact opposite, that's a broken self loathing person', I think she's right.

Oh man, I'd literally made it since Braveheart and then he popped up in Boss Level. Does it count if I didn't even recognize him until the very end?

I suppose I will have to start all over again not watching his movies.

I'm at the painting part and, how does he not know that Mel Gibson has light blue eyes? All that sculpting talent and Mel looks more like Danny Huston.

Worrying that the level of simulationism applied to Mel Gibson in this diorama is insufficient might be failing to grasp the maker's feelings towards him.

I wish it had gone farther as a condemnation of all the things Gibson said that night (considering how long ago it was and how many people probably don't know the length and breadth of his slurs that night and in defense of it, it seems like he got off easy). But he had me at Castaway 2.
