In the newest Fumble Dimension, Jon and Kofie try for better hockey through goonery, and instead take down the house of cards that is NHL '22.

The plan was simple - build a team that shoots like an Imperial stormtrooper, hits like a Mack truck, and had specialists for outsniping in shootouts. The problem was when they ran into the questionable coding of the game...

I love that Jon and Kofie have figured out how to monetize and make entertaining what should be a mainstay of QA - going extreme and breaking things

I have to admit the first thing that popped into my mind was the horror show goon squad Philadelphia Flyers of the 1970s.
Time to watch the video.

Hadn't heard of Kofie before but this is great. Love that Jon spend ten months as a glitching NPC at Radio Shack.

I love the fan drinking nachos in the stands. A great part of fumble dimension is just showing "look, the game was broken when we got here."

As much as I love fumble dimension, it's lasting effect has been to keep me far far away from any sports games simulators. I regard sports games as the 9th circle of video game hell. Abandon all hope.

We all know the pinnacle of sports games was Ice Hockey for the NES.

Easily the best sports content on the internet. Fumble Dimension is the perfect panacea to hypercompetitive sportsters, Gamergate video game nerds and the overall negativity of the news cycle.

Those of us who pumped stacks of quarters into Blades of Steel at college bars might differ -- although Blades was later ported to NES, so is it the Ice Hockey game you mention, or is that something different?

Reminds me of this masterpiece.

Jon and Kofie redid that as the first episode of Fumble Dimension.

Yeah, I just saw one of them was the same guy! Thanks!

If you love this sort of nonsense, be sure to check out Jon's Breaking Madden series from 2013–15 (cleverly alluded to in the post title). In it, Jon intentionally pushes the boundaries of EA's Madden series just to see what will happen. I particularly recommend watching the trailers, like this one and this one.

Also I will reiterate that I am irrationally disappointed whenever I see Jon release something that's not 20021

Omfg tell me about it. 17776 and it's sequel(s) are the best stuff he's done. I know it's unfair for me to demand he finish it. I demand he finish it.

Despite the unwanted stepchild that NHL hockey games are, I still wish that there was a halfway decent one that runs on Windows/PC.

/have EA '96 on my tablet (with an old logitech dual thinger controller) that gives me small comfort

EA is a monopoly that keeps decent sports games from existing. Back before their deals with the leagues there were NFL games where you could, *gasp* design your own plays or *gasp* just play coach mode if you didn't want to play a game based on your reflexes.

I hate EA.

"We had to remove a team, so we took out the Arizona Coyotes because the chat said no one would notice. They were right."

OMG. I laughed so much watching this. Mostly for the sheer volume of unending hits the goons were producing, but there was some damn fine dialogue, too. This was awesome, and I am glad I didn't nope out when I saw it was way longer than my typical YouTube attention span.

Ice Hockey is recognizably hockey, but also not. Blades of Steel tried to hew closer to reality. Ice Hockey featured 4v4 internation hockey, where there are 3 types of players. Not Centre, Forwards, and Defense, but skinny, medium, and fat. Oh, and hockey fights involve two players whacking each other with their sticks. It's all abstraction, but also a really fun game
