You've heard about Cocaine Bear, now get ready for Cocaine Cat. Found after it escaped from a car during a traffic stop in Cincinnati, the serval (which is illegal to own in Ohio), named Amiry, was tested and found to have cocaine in its system.
And why, you might ask, would someone test an escaped wild animal for drugs? Because the organization providing care, Cincinnati Animal CARE, had previously taken in a capuchin monkey named Neo that had methamphetamine in its system. (Meth Monkey?)

Amiry has been recovering from a broken leg, an injury he sustained while slipping out of the tree during his dramatic rescue.
Is that NPR code for "they shot him full of tranquilizer and he fell out of a tree"? Because it sounds like that.

I love cats but being trapped in a small room with a pissed off serval jacked up on bam bam sounds like it could be terrifying and potentially lethal.
I'm also wondering what would happen to a cheetah on blow, but mainly because Cheetahs on Blow is my new synthwave band name.

How has it become a uniquely American thing that people keep wild animals in a domestic setting? Boonta Vista covers these incidents on their Nature Corner segment (touched a crab/snipped my dick). It seems like there is a safari petting zoo in nearly every suburban development.

Given that I was just reading a thing on social media about the (distressingly recebt - like, 1950s!) history of keeping humans (primarily from various parts of Africa) in zoos, I’m going to guess colonialism has at least some role.
