Former bassist for The Housemartins, soon after that reborn as a world-famous DJ, Fatboy Slim did a 90 minute set at Austrian music festival Snowbombing 2022, just about a year ago. It's a witty, joyous set of beats, and Norman Cook seems to be enjoying the show as much as the audience.

Plus, it seems if you're Fatboy Slim, you get all the coolest stems to play around with.

I saw this since it came up in my YouTube recommendations. Highly recommend it, the fella still has it.

If you're interested in watching live DJ sets, YouTube has a lot of high quality shows.

The Housemartins had some really good tunes. London 0 Hull 4 is a solid album.

I randomly skipped to the middle and came across some sort of diss track blasting covid protocols and encouraging listeners to take their mask off?

I mean, I'm pretty lax these days but the in your face aspect of it threw me for a small loop.

I had no idea that Fatboy Slim was in the Housemartins and it's blowing my mind a little right now

There's a funny sub current of Christian socialism the UK got to enjoy. I wish it was more prevalent. Happy Hour is a kind of #metoo precursor calling out the ol' "happy hour where women get harassed" culture of, I guess, business everywhere.

I feel like there's a good post somewhere about conspiracy theories in hip-hop.

Back around 2000, my friends and I went to a Fatboy Slim show in Chicago. We were really hyped. We loved his entire style and a lot of his output, not just his radio tunes. We had bootlegs of his live sets that we loved. We were looking forward to a great evening of live music from the man himself.

He put on the most phoned-in show imaginable. He was on a little stage and just played records off a laptop. It was completely uninspired and he just stood there while the crowd attempted to enjoy the show. He didn't do anything interesting or clever or great like I had heard in any of his live sets. It was a very generic sounding set of dance music with very little orchestration. We left genuinely pissed off.

Maybe it was just a bad night, but it left a terrible taste in all of our mouths. They weren't cheap tickets, either.

SoberHighland -- yeah, I'm thinking that era of when DJs would actually mount a tour and do night after night on the road wasn't the best way to see such acts. I saw a Sasha & Digweed / The Chemical Brothers double show, and S&D were mindblowingly amazing and CB were so boring we actually left the show early. I've seen CB another time and they were really electric. The only difference is, I think, one show was late in the tour, and one was early.

I've seen a few other DJs doing more one-off things and they've always been good in those settings.

His set from Brighton a few years back is always a go-to in our household when we need some energy. He’s coming to Seattle this summer and I may just need to see that show.

Yeah, I once saw the Orb play The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld. By which I mean, they stood behind a bank of equipment while the album played. It was underwhelming.
