Rare albino echidna rescued from road. Locals have been asked to look but not touch following the discovery of an albino echidna — dubbed "Raffie" — in central-western New South Wales.

So beautiful. Thanks for posting.

Not in the same category, but yesterday on a very rural road in southern NZ I rounded a corner and grazing the road edge was a WHITE deer, about 1.3m at shoulder, they took one look at me and bounded away in an instant. Heard of white deer in Alaska & Europe, never thought I'd see one. Once in a lifetime.

I love Raffie. Echidnas are one of my favorite animals, and the reference to Raffaellos is apt and hilarious. But how on earth are it's nose and claws so clean? Its snoot looks a smidge spotty in the first picture, but much less grubby than most echidnas I've seen.

There’s going to be that one a-hole now that the word is out.

So...Bathurst. The wikipedia article has AUS and CAN (which I know the Toronto area, hence my interest). But there's no UK Bathurst? I just....assumed. So who was Mr. (again, an assumption) Bathurst that we get several Canandian place names AND an Australian one?
Also, obviously, the echinda is adorable.
