I love these sort of things, however, why does the number of people older than me keep ticking upwards? that seems... incompatible with linear time.

It said I was going to live forever. Interesting.

Gosh, it says I’ll die in October of 2065. That’s nice, I like October. Assuming we have autumns then.

You are the 6,633,809,373 person alive on the planet. This means that you are older than 82% of the world's population and older than 72% of all people in United States.

I can guess where I'll probably die: in a hallway outside an ER in Ontario, waiting for treatment.

Dying in 2054, eh? Clearly the site didn't see me eating potato chips for dinner.

I put Kissinger's birth date in and the page just hangs forever with a throbber. This thing is uncannily accurate.

I didn't expect it, but that made me feel surprisingly mortal.

Their Why Us? page is about as creepy as can be expected. No, I am *not* going to put any of my own PII into this thing.

Interesting that I get to live for 18 days more because I live in Australia vs living in NZ. I knew moving here would pay off!

I guess I'm pretty old. Dang. 81% older...

As Steven Wright says, "I plan to live forever. So far, so good."

(also, too, it says that the number of people who are older than me is constantly increasing, and I'm still trying to figure out how that is possible)

Just a side effect of globally harmonized data being consistent across time and space, I'm guessing.

I looked at that great big number ticking steadily upward, "Hello.... Bonjour... Hola..." and all I could think was, if this site is still up when climate change starts that number ticking downward, and it might still be up, are they going update the number to show the change in trajectory? When five million people die in a heat wave, and when 600,000 die in hurricane season, and when there is no grain being shipped to Africa, and when hundreds of cities are dealing with each day's refrigerator truck load of respiratory arrests during forest fire season... Are they going to keep generating their number somehow? Will they update the data? Will they even try?

Probably not. And anyway, I won't be around to log on and see it.

I hate big numbers. I really, really hate big numbers, because they mean so much. Every one of those eight-billion-and-whatever they are counting just matters so much. Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick...

Astonishing that the billionth person and the 5 billionth person were both born during my lifetime.

Note: alive, that is, not the actual billionth/ 5 billionth human

Mrs Phanx and I will apparently die on the same day, her slightly greater expectancy exactly offset by the fact that she, um, got started earlier.

For the USA, their data source is a little more generous with life expectancies than the Social Security Administration's actuarial tables. This page give me four additional years to outlive my retirement savings.

There's no way I'm going to live as long as they think I am. Nobody in my family ever made it past 86 yet and that was with the vast advantages of healthy natural food that wasn't full of chemicals and plastic and quality accessible health care like they had in the mid 20th century for white middle class people.

And you'll die of shock, more than likely. Try to hold yourself together.

The snaking timeline diagram legitimately bummed me out to see. Might make a version to hang on my wall as a memento mori, stick a pin in each birthday.
