A "Frasier" episode animated in every style imaginable

A collaborative animation project headed by Jacob Reed, "Our Frasier Remake" has enlisted over 130 animators to remake one Frasier episode, with each contributor imaginatively animating 6-12 seconds of the show's Season One finale, "My Coffee with Niles." Absolutely amazing...

This has such powerful gravity that I can't help but feel that upon viewing it becomes the true piece, the facade overlaying the episode as broadcast on May 19, 1994 ripped away (or more like a table cloth pull trick) and revealing a skeleton or some set of sounds you believe your voice sounds like until presented with a recording of such captured outside the wonderful resonance of your head.

I am reminded of the following band/project, but I imagine there are many, many more slap fighting that particular moment in time only moments before mass culture became something more fragmented:

Wow. This is amazing.

I am looking forward to watching this multiple times with freeze frame to more fully observe and admire the different styles.

So cool.

Thank you so much for posting this, Seekerofsplendor!

(I don't know if anyone is looking for instructions about bypassing YouTube's adblock-blocking, but here's how to do it with Ublock Origin.)

The new series kicks off tomorrow as well.

Somehow the sound design is almost as trippy as the animation. Maybe it's the lack of a laugh track.

Did Cyberfrunk 2077 ever make it to the front page?

This is great. Some of them made me a bit twitchy, but then others, so much wow. THE EMBROIDERY!

It also looks like some of the animators contributed more than one segment - and at least a couple of those contributed ones that are so completely different in style and tone that I was blown away at their talent. Thanks for posting this!

Why are the voices of Frasier and Niles the voices of the actual actors, but Roz's voice has been dubbed by someone who is not the actress (Peri Gilpin) who plays Roz?

All of the voices are dubbed by different people from the original (credits are in the YouTube description); Frasier and Niles's voices do indeed sound quite close to the originals in terms of accent and timing and intonation, though!

Oh wow. They really do sound very close! Only Roz' sounded a lot different.

Is there a name for this sort of thing? I have a folder of 20+ projects of this sort of thing, and I'm wondering if I need to go full datahoarder on it, since they're all fan projects of one sort or another. Like, I'd expect any of them to disappear for some stupid copyright reason, and I'd iike to make sure they stick around for awhile, just because they're cool.

Is there a name for this sort of thing?

Although its really kind of the opposite, I propose calling it "Démontage" just saying.

(that is until somebody supplies the actual term, which I will then file away and name my cat)

Rotoscoping? Thinking of Aha's "Take On Me" video.

It is both "Sweded" and "crowdsourced". So the proper term should be combining those two terms. How about "crowdsweded"?

Also, I firmly hold The Empire Strikes Back Uncut (prev on MeFi) to the most genius thing in the history of things. So to get more of the good stuff I went to watch Star Wars Uncut, but I couldn't make it more than 20 minutes in. I don't think they'd worked out the formula yet.

Really amazing! I love how the credits include 8 voice-over actors for various parts - but 22 different puppeteers!

Further comments: I think the effect of replacing the audience laughter with the "free jazz drumming" track is really interesting. It also fits with the Jazz instrumentation of the end-theme. I would be really interested to see if they changed the timing a little from the original - some of the most effective pieces of animation happen at the space between the lines where the actors react and maybe stuff occurs in the background - and the best sequences really add to the impact of the material in this way.

Would love to know if any of the original writers have seen this.

I never watched Frazier of before but saw this on a few web pages, so I watched this.

It's fantastic!

I hope someone does this with Community some day.
