- 15 human years equals the first year of a medium-sized dog’s life....Bobi was the equivalent of 169 years old.
- Year two for a dog equals about nine years for a human.
- And after that, each human year would be approximately five years for a dog.

This was in the early 90s, too--not the Great Depression. I don't think "things were different then" quite covers it.

As i read about Bobi, I'm looking over to my right at my ancient 19 year old (mostly) toothless, ferocious chihuahua and i can't imagine the old man making it another 12 years. He's a grumpy, sleepy, angry little turd, but he's my grumpy, sleepy angry little turd.
We're sorta mentally psyching ourselves up for losing him before long, if he made it another 12 that would be grand. I'll take having to pick him up and taking him outside 4 times in an hour before he finally decides to fall asleep.
Did I mention he's a turd? :)

My 65-pound dog is almost 13 and still going strong to the point that he still gets zoomies sometimes. I don't know why but I'm not questioning it.

Sammy loves to sleep (this is his current position).
Sometimes in his crate.
Sometimes in his tent.
Sometimes he suns himself in the garden (This was when he younger and playing at being a Chia Pet)
He's a fan of Star Wars, but aspires to be a Sith Yoda.
But he also always has an eye out for things he doesn't approve of (especially if he's judging you).

Since we're doing some dog photos, this is Bunk (1, 2) - we put him down pretty much exactly a year ago at the age of 12. He was a good dog.
This is Timber, who we adopted shortly thereafter, letting us know she's a water dog this past summer. She's a good dog.
They're all good dogs.
