Oh, that's such a terrible set of losses.

From the article:

“What’s it saying to all those who’ve passed away in their multitudes if we lead lives where we’re just pathologically pissed off at the world? What does it say to those who have left the world to be in a perpetual state of misery and fury and depression and cynicism towards the world? What legacy are they leaving if that’s how we manifest the passing of that person?”

Relevant soundtrack:

2019 album. "The title of the album and lyrical imagery used is based on a metaphysical conversations with Arthur" (his son, who had died in 2015).

Thanks for posting, some profound resonance on loss, anger, joy (as expected from him). Wish I could see the ceramics in person, looking forward to the new album.

Me too. I dare say the exhibition will tour eventually, but in the meantime maybe we could have a nice photo book showing the whole set in its proper sequence?

[The link at the bottom of the Guardian article takes you to the Belgian gallery's site, which includes a picture of one more piece.]

As far as Cave's music is concerned, I gotta say I've never enjoyed the Bad Seeds quite as much since Mick Harvey left the band in 2009. I still love Cave's solo stuff though.

Even as a youngster, he had a bit of an "old man" aura about him, and over the years he has grown into it. Staying active, artistically speaking, seems to be the key. I hope I can find my own way to age as gracefully.

I don't follow Nick Cave's work, really, but I do appreciate interviews with him very much - he's so thoughtful and has got such an interesting perspective. I wish it hadn't been shaped by so much loss, but I respect the way he has worked with and through grief in his art.
