He's probably right, I can't tell the difference either

Michael Savage claims that his listeners can't tell the difference between michaelsavage.com (the link didn't work? oops!) and savagestupidity.com, apparently not aware that in these days of cybersquatting, it pays to NOT pick you AKA from the dictionary.

And while on the subject, let it be known that he who now calls homosexual "perverts" was once on "dear" terms with Allen Ginsberg

I hope he gets laughed out of the court room. I also hope they counter sue (I don't know if that's possible).

His listeners can can read well enough to even surf the web?

I know Thomas and Gunilla, the people who run savagestupidity.com -- it's very unlikely they could mount a defense on this without pro bono help. They'd be lucky under the circumstances to be able to afford the bandwidth for all the new visitors their site is going to have.

Guess I should get in touch with them and talk to a few of my lawyer friends...

I always get him mixed up with Dan Savage.
Do I really need to add a NSFW warning?

I love Michael Savage threads.

Let's discuss Michael Savage!

From SavageStupidity: "David Bradford and David Layden of the Chicago-based law firm of Jenner & Block, LLC will be joining Public Citizen in representing the defendants."

Savage doesn't have a chance... but this will give him weeks of material ("those liberal courts made me lose! it's a conspiracy!")

This is the first time I've come across this guy, being British and all.

He seems like an enormous prick. Am I in the right general area?

I know it's unintentional, but...

"And we will do everything we can within the legal realm to cut off that funding. We are also going to go to the Justice Department under John Ashcroft."

So, does that mean that the JD under Ashcroft is *not* "within the legal realm"?

(and I've never heard of the guy, either.)

influx - no, you're not in the right general area. "Enormous prick" doesn't even come close to describing this asshole.

tempest. teapot. this is the sort of thing you might expect quonsar to mount his soapbox over - but the guy is simply a clown. like limbaugh - a failed comedian who modified his schtick with an infusion of political diatribe and who is suddenly perceived (declared?) to be a 'voice of' something or other. of course he's suing. he needs an audience. he has a show. don't forget that little word that's so important - show. he has a show. it's a show. what time does the show start? wow, that's quite a show. show business. the show must go on. he may have forgotten the little word, his rabid listeners may have forgotten, the political parties and networks may have forgotten, but don't YOU ever forget. it's a show.

Well said Mr. Q, we must remember that guys like this, on all points of the spectrum, are characters on a TV/Radio show. One of the rules of showbusiness is "there is no bad publicity" this especially applies to political pricks.

MrMoonPie - I do too! when I first happened to dial my radio to The Savage Nation, it was so hilarious I had to find out more and for whatever reason I searched for Dan Savage and WHOA! I was mighty confused the next time I turned on the radio.

quonsar, yeah it's just a show, but now this guy is yet one more person clogging up the legal system with frivolous lawsuits. How is GLADD any different than Bill O'Reilly calling on boycotts? How is Savage's threat to cut them off at their funding any different than his opponents trying to take away his sponsors? How can he wave the flag of free speech and spit on it at the same time?

It's not his lawsuits I am bothered by, it's the sheer hypocrisy of what he is doing. His momma should slap him in the face for being such a blatant crybaby hypocrite. Karma always comes back to you. You get what you deserve.

It's just one more example of a bigot crying foul for the very same things he himself participates in. Now I'm off to visit those Web sites.

Is he, homonculus? Or is he slowly but surely Appropriating MetaFilter for his own purposes, thread by thread?

I guess, but look where sting.com takes you now... No longer takes you here, like it apparently did at the time of the decision. The Respondent eventually sold out, I suppose.

i actually thought this was about Savage Love. I've never even heard of the other guy, but it sounds like they should do some Savage Attack, like the Daily Show's Even Steven segments between Steve Carell(?) and Stephen Colbert:
"YES!"
"NO!"
"YYYEEESSS!"
"NNNOOOOOOOO!"

elvissinatra - I think the dispute papers explain how an offer of $25,000 was turned down before thw decision was reached. I'm gonna guess that the price goes up once the ownership is "legally" established.

Actually, there's a bit of a concerted effort to raise awareness of the lawsuits and issues surrounding them out in the left-leaning blogosphere. Do your part now.
