Whoa, that site really takes over your desktop, eh? Don't forget Pyra is another free virtual desktop/workspace type of site.

I sure wish all these sites didn't have such hard-ons for 4.0 browsers. Opera 3.60 is effectively a 4.0 browser, but when I try to use something like Opendesk, every single page brings up alert boxes telling me to convert. Bastards. Can't they make inclusive sites for once?

I think they're really pushing the limits of what a browser can do, trying to blur the line between "application" and "web page." Unfortunately, getting real apolication-style interfaces with menus, tooltips, drag-and-drop functionality in a web browser means they have to exploit the latest browser tricks to make them work. Actually I've seen some amazing apps written for IE 4+ only, since coding DHTML for Netscape is a nightmare. Hopefully when Opera 4.0 comes out (whenever that may be), you'll be able to join in on the fun.

The thing is, I *can* participate! Opera 3.6 *is* a 4.0 browser. It has full Javascript, full CSS, the whole deal. The only thing keeping me back is the poorly written CGI scripts on some of these sites, forbidding non-Netscape/MSIE browsers from going in.I think I may just load up the hex editor and change the internal version number in my software.
