Every American #1 pop hit since 1950, reviewed, in order. (Start at the bottom of the page and work up.) Great blog project! (blogject?)

That's cooler than shit, man.

Well perhaps it would be cooler than siht. If it was done. Or am I missing a link somewhere? Right now it looks like a very cool but unrealized idea, that has a lot of promise but it's a bit premature to start throwing the ice cold excrement about in celebration.

No to brag, but I did this for a radio station about 10 years ago ("Polvo de Estrellas" for Antena 3 de Radio in Spain, just prior to their takeover by PRISA). Filled many of the dreaded 2-4 am slots, which made everyone happy. My boss fired my ass anyway.

Yay! I've been so pleased people have been noticing this (I am doing the UK version, linked to from the main link above) - it's also been enormous fun to do so far. For every record that's made me tear out my hair in horror that it reached #1 there's been another forgotten gem.

ZachsMind - Mike started doing it a couple of weeks ago; I started a week or so before that. I can't speak for him but for me, the encouragement of readers is what will make me get to the end. The more people are reading it, the more people I'll feel I'm letting down if I give up.

Oops, sorry Zachsmind, to have forced your gaze to this project in its hideous, repellant "in-progress" state.

Ok, the idea is cooler than shit, Captain Semantics.

Besides, it nice to be in on the ground floor of something.

Flanders, don't get all snippy. It doesn't become you. I had basically the same reaction. Some indication in your FPP that there were only six songs done, rather than "Every American #1 pop hit since 1950," would've been helpful. As it is, yeah, it's a great idea, but I doubt I'll be able to pay attention to it long enough for it to get to songs that came out when I was alive.

Au contraire soyjoy, I'm all about the snip. I see the point tho, I guess I was just happy to have another place to check in on every few days. So happy I lost my mind!!!!! Enjoy the journey, I guess.

Zach has been shitting on every post he can recently. I can see why Flanders snipped.

This is a great idea, but this was funny: for "Music, Music, Music" the guy says: I was fond of this as a kid, but I don't remember how I heard it.
psst! ; >

I have to agree with the naysayers.

Maybe another FPP will be in order if he ever makes it to the 70's.

But "Every American #1 pop hit since 1950, reviewed, in order" is a bit of false advertising.

Hey, everyone check out my website where I show pictures of every consumer product available in stores since the 1830's. I've got a coke can up so far.

I know this is snarky, but somehow it seems to deserve it. *shrug*
