I'll let Jack Handy field this one :
Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someones neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing.

Heh, I paid the buck to see The Thing a couple of years ago, shoepal. I'm not saying what it is, though...

That's interesting, shoepal - your Thing link from Roadside America, and this site, Roadtrip America. I don't think I've seen either of these sites before today, and there are some fun things at both of them, like RTA's Top 100 signs, and RSA's Smiley Water Towers.

Thanks bargle (interesting article)! Oddly, having driven past "The Thing" twice in the past, I recently stopped there for the first time while travelling out west en route to El Paso. I was going to pay the $1 to take the tour, but at the last minute I decided I liked the idea of not knowing what The Thing is/was.

Aw, shoe! How can you schlep all the way there and choose to not know? You on some kind of self-denial kick or something?
I'm 2000 miles away from the damn place, and not knowing is driving me mad!
