Tyler Hinman: Legend, Zoalesquianist, Champion. The American Crossword Puzzle Tournament has a new kid in the grid.
Ah, word geekery. Thanks for this, DeepFriedTwinkies. The age-related stuff in the news bits are pretty funny:
"This tournament's being taken over by the 20-year-olds," sniffed Payne the day before he was dethroned.
"I cant even celebrate," said Hinman, wearing jeans, a T-shirt, and a baseball cap marked with the insignia of his fraternity at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. "Im not old enough to go to a pub and drink myself stupid."

I was at the tournament, and the best part was the play-by-play of the three finalists on stage solving the championship puzzle ("I see Stella is not starting in the traditional upper-lefthand corner"). Fun.
