Yay!

(well, someone had to say something. I'm actually just waiting for a real happynetbox)

cCranium what is happynetbox all about?

I too would be pleased to see happynetbox, once Ben's bandwidth difficulties have been overcome.

I hope, soon. I might do a very limited release after the weekend or something to test the bandwidth usage. I'm going to be making some final changes to the codebase to make it what I want it to be (it took me a long time to figure that out) but I should finally be getting Happy Net Box released. heh. (famous last words...)

And yeah! Go download Discuss and do something cool with it.

Looks delish. But Brand Ben Brown is really hard to say five times fast.

happynetbox, for the uninitiated, is something of a reincarnated deepleap. deepleap, for the uninitiated, is something of a before-its-time .NET. Think of a little browser window you can pop up to do bookmark management, send a page to a friend, monitor updates, and (maybe far in the future) comparison shop or initiate background searches.

Can anyone report on their experience with discuss?

Happy Net Box actually won't feature the application type things that Deepleap had. It's pretty different, actually. Tho, it will do bookmarks. ;)

I've taken part in the occasional discussion board that uses discuss (much, I'm sure, to the chagrin of people like Ben), but never played with it from the back end.

From a user standpoint, it's a pretty straight-forward discussion tool. I like it more than most discussion tools I've seen. It actually looks and acts reasonably similarily to the MeFi commenting tool.

I'm glad you like it. The whole plan was to make a reasonably powerful message board with an easy-as-pie way to change the design. I think it worked out alright.
