I laughed at this one, the inept 3D modelling gave it that Veggietales vibe.

Oh, hey. There's mouseover text.

Not awful, but it seems like a ripoff of Married To The Sea, which also happens to be about 1000 times funnier.

Meh. Would be funnier if he stole his jokes from Metafilter.
And then we'd kill him, and it'd be really funny.

This one made me LOL.

And it's pretty obvious that some of these weren't even repurposed- they're just stupid.

Clip Art + Snark = Funny

I'll fully admit up-front that I'm bad at math. That said, I am getting a totally different answer to that equation.

Cool Papa Bell just defines funny differently than you do.

Clip Art + Snark = Funny

The math is right, it just doesn't apply to this equation. This is:

Clip art + random words = what

We simply don't get enough "the" and "a" jokes, so I'm appreciative. Also, I'm looking forward to somehow employing the phrase "Honey, tell man crap favorite off."

I prefer olde-tymee clip-art with my snark (though there has been an influx of more modern pieces, which seem out of place).

clip art + random words = fair representation of my afternoon after drinking another cup of the coffee X makes, she makes them way too strong and I never catch it in time and some days, well, somedays it all feels kind of like this.

Having never heard of Married to the Sea before this moment, I thank you.

They're not bad :P

As a Canadian I find the humor hilarious, especially the ones about Kraft (C) Macaroni & Cheese Dinner

Yeah, it's just not funny. Amusing in spots at best. Hyperbinder (from Married to the Sea) was better than these. Plus, you know, Wondermark.

I'm pretty sure we've had plenty of "the" jokes recently, thanks.

Like lowbrow New Yorker cartoons. Also, I didn't find anything particularly "snarky" about any of them.

Also, I'd like to express my disappointment that this post in no way mocks Curtis. I know the Curmudgeon has that pretty well locked down, but still, if there can be dozens of weird Garfield things, surely Curtis deserves some too.

Don't get me wrong, I love Married to the Sea, but they didn't exactly invent the idea of humorously repurposed clip art. I hate it when people dismiss something as a "ripoff" of something else that isn't even original to begin with. Funny is funny, and there is nothing new under the sun.

That said, this isn't all that funny.

American Rules Darts, Married To The Sea, 4/13/08

He's Unstoppable, Treatloaf, 12/27/08

they probably just have the same clipart packages but still

I was looking for a much-needed laugh, and this did not provide. In fact, I'm tempted to quibble if there's even any snark in here. But I'm sure it's because I got the laugh-letdown, so I'll let it be.

...but now I really, really need something funny. Back to the hunt!

Bah! You are all so spoiled, just sitting at your desks, waiting for the funny to leap off the screen and land in your lap. In my day we had to walk five miles through ankle-deep muck just to catch a glimpse of the post mistress with a bit of lipstick on her teeth. And then it were only a bit of a hollow chuckle. A real belly laugh only came round once or twice a year, but you had to work at it, mind. Horse dung had to be gathered. And you had to post a lookout to report on the whereabouts of the local bobby. And you had to have a good eye and a strong arm. And after it were all over you paid for it in tears in the woodshed. Aaaaah but it was worth it.

It had it's ups and down, and I guess I'd agree that Married to the Sea is better overall, but United Shanks of America was just brilliant.

Married to the Sea makes me laugh. And LOLcats and LOLpolitics slay me.
This-- is trying to be both, and missing my funnybone.

Don't get me wrong, I love Married to the Sea, but they didn't exactly invent the idea of humorously repurposed clip art. I hate it when people dismiss something as a "ripoff" of something else that isn't even original to begin with. Funny is funny, and there is nothing new under the sun.

You'll notice that I didn't call this a ripoff of Pokey the Penguin, Jerkcity, My New Fighting Technique is Unstoppable or Dinosaur Comics, all of which are earlier examples of "humourously repurposed clip art" that are radically different. What I called it was "a ripoff of Married to the Sea" because, why look, it's a ripoff of Married to the Sea.

While Married to the Sea itself certainly wasn't the first humorous re-purposing of clipart, it is certainly different than those comics that came before it. And this? Well, when like half the comments in a thread are about how similar it is, you can draw your own conclusions as to its originality.

I was going to say that it wasn't as funny as Married to the Sea... but United Shanks of America slays me.

The rest of it... isn't as funny as Married to the Sea.

(I guess moss and I are in the same boat on this one.)

khazk, as a Canadian I am totally calling you out on your bullshit. No joke about Kraft Dinner(c) can be funny.

Partially Clips does the re-purposed clip art thing so well that I don't see why anyone else would bother.

I like to think of myself as a charitable sort, always trying to find the good in people and situations, but these 'images + words' were so uniformly shit that I threw my office chair across the room in a fit of impotent rage, went out and put all my neighbour's windows through with a brick and then sawed my own legs off with an Ikea fishslice.

Thanks a lot, Internet.
