I just got finished playing New Mario Bros and I was expecting to hate this. I need a proper controller for something like this but this is still pretty cool.

Thank you for making my morning. How the heck do you turbo run though? Can't figure out which key it is.

At first when I couldn't jump I thought that was the thing and I was all 'eh, kinda amusing, ha ha, goomba kills you' and then I found out jump was just a different button and then Lakitu showed up and I was like 'huh?' and then a miracle occurred.

Has anyone completed the castle at the end? It seems impossible in the time given. Am I missing something?
posted by scottreynen at 7:56 AM on December 30, 2009

I finished the castle (barely) once I realized that it was OK to have bits and pieces hanging over the edge of the outline. I took a break with every pass of the pipe above to run to the other side of the screen and jump on all the Goombas. Even so, I finished with only 3 seconds to spare. And it took a couple tries.

The constant scrolling does not belong in overland levels.

I kinda went from "Wow, I bet someone at Nintendo is playing this right now and wondering why they never thought of it" to "Hmm, I bet someone at Nintendo is playing this right now and thinking up ways to make it actually fun."

Still, very nicely put together. You vaguely wish you could squash Goombas with the blocks -- then you try it and realise you actually can. That gets it a hug and a kiss from me.
