Have James Hattori and CNN found the next "Gorgeous Guy"? I didn't see the story, but I'm guessing this nationally-televised appearance by our favorite celebrity earlier today was a precursor to a piece on tomorrow's edition of CNNdotCOM which will be presented as a sort of conditional mea culpa — because, hey, even the savviest among us can fall victim to "internet hoaxes". Better tune in.

Let me just say it before anyone sees it and knows the truth:

I'm the biggest dork ever.

keep it in mind when you see me on tomorrow.

Oh, there's a caption contest going on for that screenshot I took of the TV.

Captions or photoshop work. Your choice... :-)

First time I looked at that screenshot, I thought mathowie was Artie, the Strongest Man in the World for a few seconds. In my defense, I've just woken up.

I just saw the piece on CNNdotCOM!

"liars on the web" closed the show and was, to me, the show's way of covering its ass regarding the "Gorgeous Guy" fiasco.

What I found really interesting was that the writers apparently learned nothing about fact-checking from last week, because MeFi was described as the place where Kaycee shared her story, bla bla bla. Eh?

Oh, and mathowie really does look like Artie.

I just saw this on CNN, and I thought Matt came off well, but good god, did they misrepresent MetaFilter totally.

Matt's my new hero. I salute you, my comrade in nose scratching. I thought I was the only one who ever scratched their nose in public.

They were in my apartment filming for 20-30 minutes, and all that showed up were <30 seconds of my dorky laughter and nervous nose scratching. Oh well, it was fun and James Harttori was nice.
