For a minute there I thought Danzig was going to break up with his wolf and start making out with Shakira.

Funny as hell tho.

It's about time someone jacked Danzig. The dude acts so fucking tough and he's about 5'1". He's like the evil Andrew WK.

Hokay, whoowee boy that is funny!

Seems more likely Danzig will always be linked to a lifetime of amazing music via The Misfits, Samhain, and the band Danzig. But hey don't let me piss on your LOLSHORTY lollerizing.

When I saw Samhain, Glenn was asking for the music to be turned down. Not enough though, they still managed to bore the entire audience.

The opening band, the Minutemen, rocked the house however.

No, I haven't seen the video ... I'm at work ... working

Though it should be!

Er. The sort of "producer" that has access to Audacity, a cheap microphone, Windows Movie Maker, some effects and Shakira samples, and a Youtube account.

Pretty witty, though, I should say. For a Youtube mashup, this is actually catchy.

This is hilarious--I still listen to Danzig II and III on a regular basis and it's spot-on. Also: I think I'll have to buy that Henry and Glenn comic--here's a picture of the two of them together in very early days. Also also: if he's shorter than Rollins, I'd bet that the guy who decked Danzig must have several inches of reach on him. (Five gets you ten that he's still trying to cadge drinks on that story, though.)

If by "amazing" you mean "unintentionally hilarious caterwauling by a dour muscle-bound meathead who couldn't sing his way out of a wet paper sack with the help of a full gospel choir", then I agree with you completely.

Now don't get me wrong: I loved The Misfits. Own the t-shirt. But the WHOLE POINT of that band was that they were COMPLETELY STUPID. They were FUN, like the low-budget horror movies they adored. They were a bit of "ooooh spooky!" fresh air in a punk scene that was increasingly doctrinaire, strident, and no fun at all.

Then Glenn Danzig realized being all dark and scawy and shit = $$$$$. And he started taking himself oh so seriously. And he released a torrent of musical diarrhea that continues to trickle out to this day.

I mean, c'mon dude. "Mother"? That's "amazing music"? Really? It's Led Zeppelin levels of pomposity played with the talent of Mrs. Fisher's third-grade recorder recital. It's CRAP. Utter CRAP.

It deserves as much mocking as it can get.

Also Glenn Danzig is short and frowny, and short frowny guys ALWAYS get picked on, because it's JUST SO GODDAMN EASY.

Oh man, I loved him on Who's The Boss!

(also, I wanted to be the one to post the Legion of Rock Stars version, infinitewidow (you did realize that it was the LRS version, and not the original, right?))

Hey BitterOldPunk, things can be "amazing" for many reason.
I agree with every word you say, but I still love me some Danzig. Sometimes you need a good laugh.

Does this make me a coprophile?

Your favorite band sucks etc... I'll cop to owning Danzig I,II & III. But really, that picture of Rollins and Danzig makes me think of how bad another band I really liked, Black Flag, sucked. Seriously those guys couldn't play,or sing, for shit. Same with DK, The Adolescents etc... but so what? I'll take a caterwauling Danzig over a squeaky Bieber or a mopey Morrissey any day.

Yeah, everyone sucks. That said, Greg Ginn could play. If you listen to the live recordings, you see that that guy was definitely doing shit on purpose.

I love the Elvis/Jim Morrison/Danzig Chimera, and it really seems to love its wolf.

I hear this is old, but it's new to me. Awesome.

The opening band, the Minutemen, rocked the house however.

What? Is this a game of top trumps, 'cause the minutemen card is going to beat all others, EVERY TIME.

On topic: this video is hilarious. I'm a Danzig fan but do consider his rock-persona eminently mockable (although the one time I met him he was nice as hell).

Off topic: I get it, BitterOldPunk, "your favorite music sucks" etc. What also sucks: your ranty and ultra shitty post.

Yeah, same here -- MUCH younger me met Danzig at a record signing, and he was all smiles. I don't think his act is a put-on, exactly, but I do suspect he takes himself way less seriously than one might guess. (Also: This video is fantastic.)

Glenn Danzig comes into my store occasionally. He usually hangs out in the occult section. He's a reallly short dude. The records he made with the Misfits are fucking great though.

Danzig deserves to be mocked at all times. The man doesn't have a sincere bone in his body and his music makes this painfully obvious.

Here's some REAL Danzig for the haters.

I paid for the Shakira video when I bought my iPod. Now I have to wipe Danzig out of my mind forever now, thanks for that.

I like Lady Gaga too. And Madonna. Someone do a mashup of the two of them together and get back to me.

Also: there has to be some exception to the "your favorite band sucks" meme. Really. Danzig may not be it but it's pretty ferking close.
