So I'm a fan of movies. A little over a year ago I watched the top 100 of IMDB's top 250. I enjoyed almost all of them. I've since looked through many other lists, but I can't decide if any of them are worth working through (although I have seriously considered the writer's guild's top 100 screenplays). Are there any other lists out there that any of you have enjoyed? Are there any I should particularly avoid?

Hey Matt! You own a Nintendo DS, just like I do. Infact, Metafilter has several DS owners, as this question of mine revealed. The thing is, we're not playing each other online as we damn well should be. So how about adding a field or two on our preferences pages to allow us to prominently advertise our Friend Codes? Name some big things in the continental US. Examples of the sort of thing I'm looking for are inside, but if I had to sum it up it would be: man-made or natural objects that are awesome in size, scale, ambition, or displacement from their surroundings -- and which I can drive to without needing special permission or lots of advance preparation.

The UK based company I don't work for is not a fairly large online financial information provider. Understandably we receive no traffic at all from Google and other search engines for searches related to various company names. Recently I discovered that we catalogue all the search terms by which people reach our site and do a WHOIS search on their IP address using public WHOIS servers. We then search this information for things like "users from ms.com searching for takeover and at least one other word." Then we buy shares in whatever company people from ms.com are looking for along with takeovers. We have no relationship with any of the companies involved other than that we get to see their search terms. So far there is a definite correlation between these things, and we have made money. Could this qualify as insider trading? We are exploiting non publically available information that's for sure.

I'm almost 31 and though I have had some achievements in life they're not spectacular. Most of the time when I see a biog in the paper the 'achiever' was already doing well from a very early age. To give me hope that achieving at this stage in life is possible I would like to hear of people who went on to make great achievements relatively late in their life (ie 30+) with not much happening before then. These can be anybody, famous or people you know, in any field, both creative and career wise. I haven't defined great achievement but I mean something rather outstanding (unusual I suppose) rather than 'passed my driving test' or 'got married'.

A little while ago, before my last reformat, I had just found a really slick tool for generating interfaces/skeleton implementations for Objective-C classes. I can't recall the name, but it (I think) integrated with Xcode, and made programming easier. My google-fu has failed me, here. Help me, Askme, you're my only hope!

Our house got broken into today. We're thinking the seemingly inevitable thoughts about getting a home security sytstem. So, a couple questions: 1. Are we just overreacting (aka, is getting a security system a bad idea). 2. For anyone who has an experience - any thoughts on which is best and what to avoid? The previous owners of our house had a system by Edison Security, so in particular any experience there would be helpful. I guess we're thinking, at this point, (maybe cooler heads will prevail in the morning) about an electronic style system with an alarm that is sent out if it is tripped. And maybe a dog? Thanks.
