My dog passed away this weekend. She was sleeping on my side of the bed. She was only 5, and gave no sign or indication so this is all very unexpected. The kids had picked her out from the rescue. That was the plan, the kids get a dog and then they come up together.

Normally right now is our walk time, and I so wish I could let her sniff all the sniffs one more time and not rush her along.

She was a very good dog.

This is, of course, yet another route to dismantling the federal government. Imagine if it’s decided that a single lawsuit can overturn FDA approval of a drug nationwide. If this lawsuit works, I believe this will be the route taken to outlaw contraceptive drugs, which is the next big target for far-right evangelicals.

As a rabid toponymyst, I find the name East Palestine fascinating. Originally founded as Mechanicsburg in 1828, it incorporated as East Palestine in 1875 in a wave of local religious naming. But why "East?" There isn't a local West or even just plain Palestine. It's only East of the original Palestine if you go the long way around.

Being a working musician is real work. It's at least as "real" work as having an e-mail job, bu with more time spent in a van, and a lot less consistency in daily schedule, work/life balance, and job security.

said as someone who's worked as a musician and who's very, very glad for his e-mail job, because the other, way harder, way realer work i've done is in kitchens and that's also way more miserable

Not specific to Springsteen, but is there a good reason tickets are transferable? I know it would add time to the entry process to check against ID, but it doesn't seem like an insurmountable problem to slow down scalping.

The crazy pricing isn't as entirely tied to demand as Ticketmaster would have us think. In fact its more often tied to your own demand.
