A real Playmobil John Peel would kick ass to Newcastle and back.

Is it just me - or does Playmobile Ian Curtis' eyes look a little sadder than his bandmates? Rock on Little Plastic Guy - Rock on.

Stop motion live huh... must have been a bitch to film.

I should have included this in the OP, however, here's the stop-motion of the making of the stop-motion in the OP: Making Of

I really liked the making of.

Lovely.

Ian wasn't dancing quite enough, but the lack of elbows is probably why.

The drumming more than made up for it, though.

Here's the original clip of Joy Division performing this song from Something Else

I like how the little Playmobil Ian even moves away from the mic to breathe in. And the drummer is fantastic. Well, the animation of the drummer.

Wonderful, now want a Playmobil Hulme and a Playmobil Russell Club to go with it

Smiley faced Ian Curtis has a nice song he would like to sing. Is everybody ready to hear him sing it?

"Transmission" was supposed to be the first song ever played on CKDU-FM when it began broadcasting in the '80s. Accidentally, instead, the first song broadcast was "Disorder" (which was the next song on the album). We always took that to be a prophetic mistake, in a strangely prideful way.

I like how much they smile. Real Joy Division didn't smile.
posted by Fiery Jack at 11:44 AM on February 9, 2011

...but the dancing is EXACTLY the same.

Next up: Playmobil Dead Milkmen perform "Instant Club Hit (You'll Dance To Anything)."

Watching it again and again. Thanks.

If all of the internet and youtube and the rest of it consisted only of this one thing, it would be enough.

I do wish Hook had a bass though. I can't believe I'm lodging a complaint about the realism of this.

From a friend: this, versus the original, side by side.

OK, I spent untold goof hours as a child playing Playmobil. Someone, PLEASE answer for me: "Play-MOBILE" or "Play-MOBIL?" I never settled on a pronunciation, wrong or otherwise.
posted by nevercalm at 3:17 PM on February 9, 2011

Yeah, this is awesome.

I've been filled with playmobil-lust since early childhood, but never had a single figurine. WANT.

Loved the drumming. Steven Morris always gave me the impression that he was a human drum machine.

I know Tony Allen is a great drummer but I really don't know about drummers in general. Is Morris considered good?

As for PLAYMOBIL, I always hated it.

I'm excited for the eventual Playmobil New Order "Perfect Kiss" video.

Hook's rare use of six-string bass, captured live.
