If only there really were a Grim Beaker, one's mortality would be significantly less dreadful to contemplate.

Last year, I had to watch Tess for a class. My boyfriend walked midway through, watched five minutes, and said "You know what this movie needs? Muppets."

I hope there's some Thomas Hardy on the docket next.

There's already an open Muppets thread about five posts down.

Just a reminder: Here's Homunculus' 2007 post but the links are deceased so here is De Düva for those that don't know it.

Am I a bad person for wanting a Cries and Whispers parody where Miss Piggy is in her death throes shouting "Kermy!" only to be comforted by a loyal Camilla the Chicken?

It's heartening to know that someone's brother Gummo made it in the movies.

"You know what this movie needs? Muppets."

There are many movies about which this could be said. 300. The Matrix. Armageddon. Birdemic. Many of them are in theaters right now.

But this thread has REAL Muppets, not store-bought model puppets operated by incompetents.

Are you saying that those movies would not be made better with real Muppets, as opposed to incompetents?

My childhood memories, recently backed up by multiple Everything Is Terrible finds, make it clear that there is (or rather was) a lot of effort in fundie Christian circles to make their own puppety productions. Some of these designs seem rather inspired by the Muppets, especially the "anything Muppets" they used as generic standins.

Just saying, I am more than familiar with incompetent Muppet-wannabes. I don't think they made even their own original shows any better, rather the opposite.
