The first one is awesome. It's her complete grandma coat that makes it. But at the beginning she looks so lost and confused that I'm a little worried.
The second video has this comment: "And she has a fanny pack." Why are all the most useful things made fun of? Velcro shoes, calculator watches, fanny packs and probably many others. I don't own most of them (except cargo pants...AND SHORTS) often wish I could. posted by DU at 5:01 AM on August 5, 2011 [4 favorites]
When I was a kid I dragged my folks to see Benny Goodman. I was 12 and I knew it'd be his last go-round so I had to go... I mean, it was Benny Goodman. I had a great time, even though I didn't see anyone else under 50 at the event.
Before the OK Go concert last year a couple roughly our age remarked that we were seemingly the only people over 50 present. When I mentioned that there were no seats and that we'd be standing for the show, their eyes got large. They left early. I stood down front and had a completely awesome time.
It's not about age. It's about the music, and not putting limits on yourself. These ladies have it right. posted by kinnakeet at 5:16 AM on August 5, 2011 [3 favorites]

Did you ever notice how old people have really bushy eyebrows? It's getting to where I have to be careful that I don't knock things over with mine. What's that about? posted by Naberius at 5:46 AM on August 5, 2011
I hesitated to click that, given a certain association with a citrus fruit party that was totally NOT what it claimed to be. But this was fun. posted by tommasz at 5:55 AM on August 5, 2011 [2 favorites]
I'll add this to he list of things some grandma can do that I can't. posted by MHPlost at 6:15 AM on August 5, 2011 [1 favorite]

They've just been growing longer.
I mean, they've had longer to grow. posted by unSane at 6:21 AM on August 5, 2011
Age is just a number. This past winter I started running/exercise for the first time in my life. I'm 30. Sometime in December I was running on an icy morning (wind blowing, temperature at around -15 with windchill) and a 70 yr. old man ran past me. RAN! Throughout the winter I would see him run past me and a few times he slowed down long enough to tell me that he's been running for the past 30 years (marathons, half-marathons, anything in between). It's nice to see someone older than myself beating my ass at something I just started, gives me hope that ANYTHING is possible. posted by Fizz at 6:21 AM on August 5, 2011 [3 favorites]
Well Granny has an unfair advantage because she's had longer to perfect her moves. posted by tel3path at 7:03 AM on August 5, 2011

I keep going from video to video, and ALL of them have at least 100,000 views.... apparently I am not the only one enthralled with dancing grannies. posted by ThePinkSuperhero at 9:29 AM on August 5, 2011

Oh my god, I just had an epiphany! I would be considered so much more cool if I just stopped coloring the gray in my hair!
(Not ready to go there yet, though. Even if this most recent go-round with the "L'Oreal, because I'm worth it" did result in my hair being sort of purple. But hey, I'm rockin' it. I think.) posted by MexicanYenta at 10:44 AM on August 5, 2011
These are great! And I hope my butt looks as nice as that second granny's when I'm her age. posted by Specklet at 1:52 PM on August 5, 2011
Super cute, but I was worried the cute granny in the long coat might get jostled by one of those excited young men. Grannies are fragile. Don't knock 'em down! posted by Scram at 4:05 PM on August 5, 2011
What, I thought all grandmas did this. Doesn't yours? posted by xedrik at 5:18 PM on August 5, 2011 [1 favorite]
