I think these cats lack ambition. Ours ignores the smooth smooth scanner for the tactile joy of pinging letter off the keyboard. posted by arcticseal at 11:52 PM on August 4, 2011
With one of those I thought, "Wait a minute, is that MY cat? But I've never scanned her! At least, not that I've posted to the internet!" But then I realized no, while they have stunningly similar rectal regions, it's not quite 100%. posted by lesli212 at 12:09 AM on August 5, 2011 [1 favorite]

There's like this guy that lives in my building, and he has a french bulldog. He's a big sweaty fat dude, I think he makes his money as a trader. He's nice, but just on the precipice of annoying. Until you happen to be behind him getting your mail or brushing past him down the back stairs or wherever, and you realize he is forever talking to his dog. I mean like long conversations with this dog. Long, involved, girlfriend sort of dinner conversations with his crazy-tongue french bulldog.
Damn, someone out there has a cat with 3 front legs! posted by autoclavicle at 1:00 AM on August 5, 2011
In the style of Run-DMC:
somebody scanned a CAT!
and then they posted THAT!
and then they quoted MATT!
i'm gonna get my GAT!
that shit is gettin' OLD!
that shit just leaves me COLD!
like a recurring DREAM!

beukeboom, for having brought awareness of the resurrection of cat scans back to the tubes, I would like to present you with a trophy...
A Cat Ass trophy, to be sure.
This one seems the most appropriate; perhaps you should print it out and frame it... sort of a DIY trophy I guess. We're a little cheap in these parts. posted by drfu at 1:23 AM on August 5, 2011 [2 favorites]
Im having the worst deja vu right now, didn't I see this here just last week? posted by dabitch at 1:35 AM on August 5, 2011
Hey have you ever tried / Really reaching out to scan his other side?
The claws sink deep and I can't keep him in / But baby, here goes...
F2 previews then makes a beep / F4 makes a scan for us to keep
And if you're wondering where this cat is going to
I'm gonna scan him with you
I really think that we could wedge him, girl

I've never understood the part about having to wedge the cat into the flat bed scanner. You just put the cat on the scanner, right? No wedging involved. posted by twoleftfeet at 2:59 AM on August 5, 2011

Some of these pictures look like a cat suspended between realities, their paws still in the here and now, the rest of its body a warped reflection from the other side of a window to an alternate universe. posted by anthom at 5:41 AM on August 5, 2011
I don’t know if anyone wants to do this to their scanner, however we here at Cat Scan HQ have some ideas for bizzarre cat scans:
Scans of cats debating the debt crisis on the scanner glass
Scans of cats silently judging you on the scanner glass
Scans of cats impersonating Charles Nelson Reilly on the scanner glass
… any other wacky cat+scanner ideas you have (that aren’t animal cruelty, of course)
Now, be advised putting food, animals, and laser beams onto your scanner probably isn’t covered by your warranty, so probably only try these if you have an old scanner you don’t care about that much.
That being said, I don’t think any of it will hurt the scanner (or the cat!).
…But nonetheless, proceed at your own risk. posted by Dr. Zira at 5:48 AM on August 5, 2011
