As a rock climber, I hate watching stuff like this. When my friends want to solo climb (even if it's REALLY, REALLY, REALLY easy) I turn away and go somewhere I can't see.

sebastienbailard that is totally similar except that the basketball goal needed to be 200 meters high and the cat needed to hang from the hoop by one claw a few times before making his descent.

Epinephrine is a hell of a drug.

In my day they called it adrenaline. Of course it's all purer nowadays and the penalty for getting caught is a lot harsher.

(Do I have to wait for the obituary to point out that the enabling *expletive deleted* with the video cam should be blamed for his death?)

I've always looked at this kind of thing as "Avoidable Death".

Hmm, I have plenty of respect for people who free solo (and there's also a sort of scrappy appeal to urban climbing / parkour, quite like skateboarders reclaiming public space), but generally goofing around while doing it is probably unwise. Not that I saw anything more dangerous than, say Alex Honnold does regularly...

I never know whether they love life so much they want a rush to experience it to the max, or that they just don't respect it enough to take fewer risks to be able to experience it longer.
