Ben Wyatt's Star Trek Fanfiction. Since last October, Pawnee, Indiana's most adorable curmudgeon has been writing stories about his favorite fictional characters that happen to dovetail neatly with his nonfictional life. Starting with Parks and Rec episode How a Bill Becomes a Law, his fiction extents week-by-week to comment on his life, his girlfriend-slash-wife, and the adventures of all the crew of the Starship Enterprise. He also wrote his own Star Wars remake to counter Patton Oswalt's filibustered proposal, and occasionally drops a Lord of the Rings love letter as well. His hobby is sometimes mocked by fellow co-worker April Ludgate. More fan fiction beneath the fold. posted by Rory Marinich (13 comments total) 28 users marked this as a favorite

Think_Long, are you trying to say that things written in the comments section of a popular online forum are inherently worthless?

Because if so, I, uh... I need to sit down and have a long think about my life.

Depends on the forum, Rory, totally depends on the forum.

Ha, no, I'm just saying that of all the gimmick accounts on the avclub, avenged7x is my fave.

Ohhh! I didn't know that account was a thing. My bad.

I love this person so much. The fact that this is my second favorite meta-fiction-thingee involving Star Trek (LARP Trek being first) pretty much means we are truly living in the golden age.

(I should have said "gold-pressed latimum age", I now realize.)

Oh, God - I just reminded myself why I don't follow LARP Trek at work. "Prison Security Measures" and then just prior "Listen up. I think we should all kill ourselves". I had to close the browser, and now I will be giggling uncontrollably all afternoon, and I have important meetings.

Big Blue Break: Writer Wyatt Worms Way to Metafilter Madness; Online Ovation!

I feel this is incomplete without mentioning the Leslie Knope Headlines and Man Pretending To Be Perd Hapley accounts.

I don't know what this means, but it has the cadence of a post. The story of this post is, that it is a post and I will now post it.

C'mon, everyone knows the best avclub novelty account is rappin' jake sisko.

I'm with ilana - my favourite is Leslie Knope Headlines. The one posted after the episode where Ben and Leslie got engaged was just joyous.

I miss original flavour Cookie Monster who, for a gimmick account, was also very astute. In general I've found the film comments pretty worthless, but there's several shows which have a high wheat-to-chaff ratio.
