Good news for fans of the now-defunct Dear Sugar advice column (previously on Metafilter): Sugar is back!

Dear Sugar is back in podcast form, with both the previous Sugars (Cheryl Strayed and Steve Almond), along with assorted friends and family members, responding to listener letters biweekly. Dear Sugar Radio just started up in December, so it won't take you too long to catch up on the backlog.

Yes, I was listening to NPR the other day and heard that whatever I was listening to was "sponsored by the Dear Sugar podcast" and I was like HOLD THE PHONE WAIT HOLD THE RADIO and then I came home and started listening. Yay Sugar. Cheryl Strayed and that column actually saved my life, no exaggeration. She taught me how to take care of myself and ultimately to love myself. The column is frequently mentioned on the green in questions about human relations for a good reason.

On the one hand, I'm delighted that she's doing advice again.

On the other hand, I miss being able to savor her writing because words on the podcast tend to go in one ear and out the other.

Having just listened to episode 1, I agree with jenfullmoon on both counts.

Huh, I thought for sure it was on FanFare by now, but no dice.

I listened to the first two episodes and was blown away by the care and knowledge the hosts bring. I mean, I've read Ask MeFi for 12 years now, so I thought I was good at dispensing advice or at least guessing what people will offer as advice, but the first couple episodes of Dear Sugar deliver a wallop of tough problems that the hosts have deep knowledge and a plan on how to help their askers answer them.

It's ridiculously good this show, I hope it sticks around and they do many more shows for a very long time.
