This is delightful! I lost it at minimal techno.

So part 1 left me wondering if the birds were actually reacting to the music we were hearing or if they were paired to it after the fact.

But part 2 had some video clips with editing that made it obvious.

How to dance to Michael Jackson

that cannot be a real birb

baf - This bird is definitely reacting to music, though not the same music that's in this video.

(I love how the one bird is all "Hey, come on! Isn't this Teh Awesome?? Just FEEL the MUSIC!" and the other bird's reaction is "Dude - chill, you're embarrassing me.")

Can someone who knows birbs please tell me why the little drum n bass conure or lovebird fellow is having a stompy tantrum fit

Birds are insane alien dinosaur overlords. I am right to fear them.

Ohhhhh....Heebie. Jeebies. Why did I watch that?!?!?

I don't know how I've managed to not see Cockatoo Loves Elvis yet but that is the funniest thing I've seen in a long damn while. The other bird!

He's not throwing a tantrum, he's doing the Running Man Challenge.

Not only can the birds dance, but they can tell the difference between all these types of music - impressive. :D

Are these real clips? Are they really dancing to them? They're more in beat with the rhythm than I am...

I'm Big Room House Bird by the way. Did they take the sound clip from this?
posted by yueliang at 1:39 AM on May 18, 2016

Oh wait. Big House Bird is from a clip where the parrot is actually dancing to Gangnam Style. That's even better lmao
posted by yueliang at 1:43 AM on May 18, 2016

i'm withholding any comments of glee lest some bird-expert come into the thread and announce that these birds aren't dancing they are actually in distress how dare you enjoy and laugh at birds who are clearly suffering etc

that's not industrial music!

And that's why I can't share this video with my friends. It's a decent song but Prodigy is so very much not industrial.

I've seen lots of things misidentified as industrial but Prodigy is a new one for me.

That's a Caique. They're a bit crazy, and they LOVE to hop. Sadly, their oversized personalities and need for stimulation mean that they all too often end up at bird rescues when owners who bought them because of their cuteness can't handle the whole package. Birds are VERY demanding pets!

On the other hand for some genres these are pretty accurate - the hardstyle/hardcore hoppy-stompy birds and the "hands in the air" trance bird in particular cracked me up.

Oh, cmon, all you genre puritans, even if Firestarter is NOT industrial you have to admit that bird is doing the best take on Prodigy's video since Weird Al's version
