3dNES (Windows, Linux) allows you to play NES games with community-added 3d textures.

Just match the rom with a 3DN file and you're good to go.

Mega Man 2 in frickin' 3d

Super Mario Bros. 3 in the 3d dimension

Pay what you want, also easily downloaded for free.

It strikes me that this is ripe for hacking and trolling. How long before some of those textures are political messages, or porn?

Or just jokes?

Well, to alter the textures for offensive purposes, you'd just have to hack the roms. And people have been doing that for eons.

This could be said of anything. There are lots of stupid trollish romhacks, for example. The bad ones get ignored, the good ones are played and remembered.
