Oh, how I miss being young and floppy and naked. #goodtimes

This has a totally different tone than the other two, almost cinematic. Do I smell a three-movie feature deal?

The best CGI based franchise of our century, or any other.

Uncanny valley? More like uncanny Mariana Trench, amirite?

Fizz, it can be yours for the low low price of $90,000 USD

How lucky we are to have talent like this orbiting around Hollywood and occasionally making sublime commentary on the utter absurdity of it all.

A++

Huh. They don't mention this in the guides to attending Comiket.

I am flagging this post. The warning only mentioned floppy naked men, not seizure laden pert women. I mean, we have rules for this sort of thing.

I feel like this has been superseded.

Welp, the "Kids React" team did a video of kids reacting to the first video and then another one for the second one, so I can only imagine they'll go for the triumverate.

The blond girl's reaction at about 20 seconds in on the first one is my favorite.

The best part of this is the very opening moments when one is twiddling his toes in the clouds.

More like uncanny Mariana Trench, amirite?

Well, the ethnic spread is uncannily rural Bohemia.

This latest short makes it much more obvious that the floppy naked people are CGI in a way that makes me feel, retrospectively, like an enormous idiot for genuinely not realizing until reading the text of this post that the floppy naked people are CGI.

Like, what else could they be? I know. I agree. But I never put it together.

I think I speculated in the thread for the first one, through my initial gobsmackedness, about the possibility that it was some kind of very carefully cleaned-up marionette work. CGI makes more sense, but the lighting and physicality and sheer weirdness of it when it was just the one duder was so "uh" that I wondered too.

What if I told you they're not actually CGI at all?

It's explained as bad motion capture. I always assumed that it started as a flub, and then they just went with it.

I love it - the train takes up like 10% of the 5 minute video, yet a comment about it has the most favorites in the entire thread. Metafilter is so weird.

The lighting is amazing

That's always been a huge part of the joke for me, the pro level lighting and move matching mixed with the amusingly half-assed model/animation/rigging which is still weirdly brilliant.

What sort if computer resources would be necessary to produce something like this? I'm kind of amazed that nobody has put CGI processing to use as a more useful substitute for Bitcoin processing.

This is a glimpse into the future, when our robotic AI descendants go on vacation and try and emulate humans, circa 2713. We will have been extinct for many centuries by then. But this will happen.
