I had this idea but didn’t know if I could keep it going for 11 minutes

"Casper had someone storyboard it up with classic sitcom moments, like accidentally roller-painting someone’s face. That one feels like a trope, but we couldn’t find it online." An Oral History of 'Too Many Cooks'

Lars Von Trier as "Pie" always made me smile.

This is just an excuse to bring up the paint roller thing... with a veneer of "too many cooks" plausible deniability.

Which is fine. Maybe 2018 is the year we find that elusive clip!

Too Many Cooks was so good. There's so many good shots. The circle around the dinner table where as the camera revolves again and again the white family is replaced by a black family and saxophones kick in sticks out. The GI Joe sequence, the Battlestar Galactica sequence, the Doctor smiling into the camera begging for death, it's all so good.

Sorry for the red herring, looks like Home Improvement was debunked extensively.

My feeling was, “I love it, but I don’t know if anyone else will like it.” [...] We just had to make it so we were as not-sick of it as we could be.

I've done some of my best creative work like this: feeling that I have probably gone mad, but that I will definitely go mad if I don't finish it. It's both an encouraging and frustrating place to be in.

I have an increasingly well supported theory that 2014 was the first year of the 21st Century, it was the end of the seemingly harmless, fun internet, the beginning of the end of a lot of venues that thought they could keep up on ad revue, the spreading of forum culture to mass politics, the rise of gamergate and thier PUA/Nazi offshoots, and the bubbling pot of cultural weirding and decline of traditional institutions into air.

And it started with Too Many Cooks.

I think Final Deployment 4 came from some of the same peeps, and it feels a bit like a thematic sequel.

Was anyone else surprised that the oral history kept going and going? Like oh it's done, but surprise, that was just one section! It keeps going!

Based on Casper Kelly's work on Too Many Cooks, it gave him the Cheddar Goblin sequence in Panos Cosmatos' gonzo horror Mandy.

This feels like the TV equivalent to Frog Fractions.

Why wouldn't you include video? Here's the Cheddar Goblin commercial.

Obligatory link to sarcasticah's AskMe about the paint roller in a TV sitcom intro.

I remember Mark Hamill doing press for one of the new flicks, and he was rocking IDGAF hair and beard. I can't find it but this is close. The resemblance and his glower made me wonder if he was having a joke.

Does anyone else remember the drug commercial that they made?

Does anyone else remember the drug commercial that they made?

Unedited footage of a bear

Was working a late-night deadline and this came on the TV sometime between 4-6am, wow... I actually couldn't believe what I had seen... And it was the day of release... Nothing on Google until the next day... Made for a surreal 24-hours...
