So...This was a thing that happened? Backstory?

It's at the Eaton Center (a big shopping mall) in downtown Toronto ten-ish years ago when they had the G20 (or G something) summit there. There were protests and vandalism nearby, so they shut the mall.

Man, ya see a video of an unmasked asshole ranting at a locked shop door and think, "Wow, could 2020 get any more 2020?" and then you learn this was from 10 years ago. Sheesh. Well played.

I watched it twice and considered watching it a third time. It might still happen.

*blink* *blink* The wife and I JUST got done watching the Murdoch Mysteries where the murder takes place in the Eaton department store. Like, ten minutes ago.

Synchronicity, man.

I've been enjoying Antunes since the previous post mentioned above.

So yeah, this was during the G20 in Toronto in 2010.

Story that appeared at the time: Angry man demands right to shop at Eaton Centre.

Curiously, Eaton's went into bankruptcy in 1997, so there hasn't been an Eaton's department store in the Eaton's mall for quite some time, even though it's still called the Eaton Centre (technically the CF Toronto Eaton Centre now, but still).

Timothy Eaton still has his name on a church, too, which always struck me as sacrilegious somehow.

Someone claimed in the Youtube comments that it was only those doors which were closed, and that he could've gotten in by going around the corner and walking half a block. I suspect that no-one inside was willing to tell him that.

So far my favourite vocalist in this series by Antunes has been Kenneth Copeland. The other ones are good, but he brings a real professional energy to demanding judgment on Covid-19.

Copeland also looks like he's possessed by Satan which helps. But I love them all. This one makes whining/screaming white privilege slightly more palatable/humorous?

I was living in Toronto during the G20 protests. What a time! I distinctly remember being the victim of a hit and run and the police refusing to investigate because they were "busy with the G20". So this guy's behaviour was kind of par for the course is what I'm trying to say.

A little more context - this part of the mall was built over an existing cross-street and part of the agreement to build was that this particular entrance, and the one across the aisle from it, would never be locked or closed.

So you've got G20 stressors plus a door that is never supposed to be locked plus whatever issues this guy is dealing with were all coming together to create this particular moment.

Hadn't seen that particular piece of insanity before. He's like the living embodiment of everything Indi Samarajiva has been writing stark warnings about.

"I demand! I demand!"

Jesus fucking Christ. It's epidemiology for toddlers all the way down.
