Do you like fake movies and shows that only exist within the fiction of real movies and shows? Then you will enjoy Nestflix, a catalogue of metafictional entertainment from Lynn Fisher.

I was disappointed that they didn't have Mr. Show's "Coupon: The Movie" but then I saw that they have an option to make a suggestion, so then I got undisappointed and suggested it.

Honestly, Mr. Show is a fountain of this kind of stuff, like the pre-taped call-in show.

This project is great. It might be a little sad how many of these I immediately recognize in the main feed.

As I recall, Body Double had two movies within it, one being a porn movie that is viewed on fast-forward (meaning a bunch of footage had to be shot for a small payoff). I don't recall if either had a title, but they don't seem to be here.

I love the fake movie trailers from the beginning of Tropic Thunder.

Dr. Sexy, MD, deserves a spot.

Not TV or a movie, but my favorite fake show is Dog Cops from the Hawkeye comics by Matt Fraction and David Aja.

I was going to say that it's odd that only Dr. Sexy got a mention, when the (warning spoilers) Supernatural episode where the stills are from went through a whole range of fake shows with a CSI rip-off, a Japanese game show, a sitcom, and a Knight Rider riff, but I guess it was the one with most characters who weren't Sam or Dean, so it is easier to pull stills from that segment.

Still, I was disappointed that there was no Bud Stuy from (again spoilers) Legends of Tomorrow. That should have been a particularly easy one to summarize, given what they say about the show and its story arc and its production team and its characters.

A little more definition, from the contribution page:
You might be wondering where is Rochelle, Rochelle from Seinfeld? Or Coming Home in a Body Bag from True Romance? Both iconic in their own way.

Here’s the criteria for what gets added:

Must be fictional (not characters watching a real film, not a recreation of a real film)
Must show actual footage (not just mentioned in dialogue or seen in a poster)
Not a news or morning show (for now, this might change)
I suggested Brigsby Bear.

This is cute! Glad to see the Lucas Lee collection included.

I'm used to my beloved Happy Endings never getting any love, but it's a shame they don't have their stupid rom-coms or Baby Justice in there. Will have to see if I can rectify that.

Also missing from Classics is Pirates of Tortuga from My Favorite Year, which is about a '50s Sid Caesar type comedy sketch show that we also see some glimpses of itself, and the clips from Pirates were from an actual Peter O'Toole movie so there's a whole nice multi meta level thing going on there.

Perhaps their rules might, however unwisely, disallow SCTV programs themselves, but that still doesn't provide any excuse to ignore shows from the CCCP1 take over of SCTV, with shows like Tibor's Tractor, where Nikita Krushez is reincarnated as a talking tractor to allow him to finish his seven year agricultural plan or What Fits Into Russia with Feliks Dzerzhinsky. Those shows are must adds!

Sadly, Maria Bamford is Nuts! isn't on Nestflix yet, but I have submitted a request to add it, because if there's one show that a fictional Netflix site featuring shows within shows needs to have, it's a show streaming on a fictional Netflix in an actual Netflix show. The BBC Radio 4 soap opera The Archers once had a storyline which established its characters listened to a real BBC Radio 4 show called The Food Programme. It follows that the rest of BBC Radio 4's schedule must have been available to them as well - including The Archers itself, which they'd hear inexplicably broadcasting 15 minutes a day of their own lives.

It's at that point that a casual show-within-a-show reference morphs into a psychological horror movie. No wonder Kate drinks so much.

Well conceived and well done. I added Nathan for You's "The Web" from his efforts to help a LA souvenir shop by "casting" random tourists as extras whose scenes involved buying crappy merchandise.
