How nerve-wracking that performance must have been. Shane did a phenomenal job.

How many young drummers are the Foos planning to launch?

Between this and Dhani Harrison at The Concert for George, kids playing in tribute to their parents is the music genre I never knew I needed.

Ugh, my heart.

Oh my god that look Grohl has at about 5:18 is honestly one of the purest things I’ve ever seen. The strength of emotions on that stage and in that crowd must’ve been absolutely overwhelming.

I watched most of this show yesterday, but had to leave the house before this part - thank you, Your Childhood Pet Rock, for posting it here. Shane's performance was great and it was cool to see how he and Grohl took cues from each other during the song. I agree with Fuego above WRT seeing kids play in tribute to their parents.

(Lots of other good bits to be seen in this show - but if you watch Dave losing it during Times Like These, make sure to have Kleenex handy. Damn dusty, to be sure.)

Wow. Dave said he hits the drums harder than anyone - he does. He's hitting them really hard. And he's a 16yo boy! It's like seeing a toddler lift a fridge. You can see that he's putting his whole body into it as well, his backswing on the hi-hat is over his shoulder. It takes commitment too - you can't just be that intense for a few bars, you have to do it for five minutes. Just giving it everything he has. Way to go kid! What an incredible performance.

Great hair.

It is not often that you get to see a triumphant third act climax in real life. But watching that kid's face, watching him drum the hell out of that song, that my friends is every cathartic moment I have seen in a movie.

I like Foo Fighters music. But I love watching them perform because I don’t feel like I’m watching an act. I think we’re seeing Dave as he is every day, just with extra Dave.

I’m a cynic about a lot of things, but that, that was epic.

I dabbled with drums for a awhile and I've always been amazed at the sheer physicality needed for that Grohl/Foo drumming style. Watching Dave and then Taylor and now Shane playing those songs, I'm still flummoxed that they're not crashing sticks through the heads.

I watched the concert for about 5 hours on Saturday, and it was totally worth. So much amazing talent, so many emotions. I loved seeing the puncturing of the rock star ethos to reveal (mostly) men grieving the loss of a really nice guy.

Also, Paul McCartney rocks harder at 80 than I will ever rock in my entire life.
