Cindy Wilson, one of The B-52s, has released her second solo album. Early single, Delirious, is a new wave synth soundscape, while Wait plays with sampled vocals, and Midnight is Eighties pop deliciousness. Yahoo Music has a lengthy write-up of the album and the artist, and you can find it all at Bandcamp.

The most recent single is Within, a more modern feeling synth vibe.

If someone had asked me what a contemporary solo album by one of the B-52s* would sound like, I would guess something like this, and I’m entirely here for it.

* Apparently they changed their name from the B-52’s, which is entirely correct usage, because some pedant, who knows less about orthography than they think, convinced them it was incorrect.

This will be fun to listen to and perfect timing. We were talking about the B-52s the other day and it took me a hot minute to remember Cindy Wilson's name because my wife and I have always gravitated towards Kate Pierson (in part because she's a brassy redhead like my wife), but Cindy's no vocal slouch either!

Really the whole album is great. It plays well as a single "album", for those old enough to remember those. It's full of throwback vibes that are great, and I'm really glad she did this project. Totally unexpected.

Just goes to show, just because your band is ready to retire into a residency doesn't mean you have to be stagnant yourself.
