Those are badass looking salt truck/plows! The ones in Chicago and the surrounding area are big and powerful looking, but nothing like those! Plus the safety orange makes sense. Chicago's trucks are the blue color from the Chicago flag, which is a light powdery blue—not all that visible.

In NYC, they stick snowplows on the front of the garbage trucks! As someone from places with, you know, actual snowplows, this always struck me as funny. I'm honestly not sure how/if they grit or salt the roads. The sidewalks are done by the buildings.

Hoyland, there are dedicated plow/salt trucks, but because of the large number of streets plows are fitted onto any vehicle possible. (Pro tip: snow is pushed to the right side of the street so if you are parking your car during a snowstorm, stay on the left side of a one-way street. Less shoveling!)

No Mr. Plow? Or Plow King? I thought those might be too US-centric, but after looking at the other names (Spreddie Van Halen, Creedence Clear-Road Survival, et al.) that seems to be a non-issue. There’s even another Simpson's reference in there!
