Video game music is teh hotness

VGMix is a site that hosts MP3s made by video game afficionados who have remixed the tunes from their favorite video games, old and new alike. Check out the releases page and try out a few songs. You can also search for songs by a particular game system, genre, specific game, etc. (Unfortunately, search seems broken for me right now, but it usually works!) The users generally provide extensive reviews that will help you sort out the great from the mediocre before downloading.

I figured I'd share a few of my favorites:... and there's a lot more where that came from.
Here's hoping this isn't a dupe.

Funny, I just downloaded a whole load of songs from Overclocked Remix today and was about to hit up vgmix ^_^

Some excellent tunes there, I just wish there was a sort by music type/instrument!

I'm not sure how interested people are in listening to remixes of the same Offspring song looped over and over again.

The Mental Hospital section of the VGMix forums is endlessly funny, imho; they have a wonderfully bizarre sense of humor (though not for the easily offended). Juvenile with a big dose of dada.

Bart is the man. His Dune I and Diablo remixes are particularly good.

as one of the vgmix administrators, i'm going to come right out and say that there is a very large amount of terrible music on the website. but there are still loads of gems, and using this view of the released songs gives you a pretty decent list of the best stuff. still, the vast majority of the submissions are from people in dire need of help, and we're trying to get them some.

also check out the monthly Dwelling of Duels contest, where participants are given a month and a selection of game music to arrange and perform on a live instrument by the deadline.
