That sucks, but as Nick Park himself said, with the earthquake happening at the same time it sort of puts it into perspective.

Does anybody think it's weird that this happened the weekend their movie opened?

The new movie, BTW is pretty good, IMHO. References from bugs bunny (the old brain switch gag & tunneling dirt hills) to the painter Diego Valezquez ( paintings in the home of Totty -the British royal familyish Lady - that are based on Valezquez's unflattering portraits of the Spanish Court) to Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, to ... well, you know...

And it does seem odd that it happened on the opening weekend.

*dons clay hat*

Yes, quite the odd coincidence, that.

Its not that odd if this was arson, though

Anyone who would burn such things has no soul.

this is sad to lose.
the hours that the animators spent using these props border on uncountable. If only because they're actually creating figures and manipulating them, I love stop-animation most.

as an example, I still get goosebumps when the empire attacks Hoth and the AT-ATs enter. CGI has never produced the same goosebumps.

Seriously, this is the best you could do? Here is how to turn newsfilter into a front page post. Please make an effort.

While on the topic of how to do things properly, here is an idea: I have posted more stuff to this site than the couple(+?) of complainers above combined.

I might be wrong, but I do think the term newsfilter applies to current events in general. As far as I understand, notices related to arts, lifestyle, pop culture, etc (i.e. to specific bands) are not necessarily newsfilter.

The intention of this FPP was not to trick everyone who visits the site into clicking on it, but rather flag this development to the potentially significant portion - in varying degrees - of Aardman animation fans who are also mefites.

Thanks for your attention and sorry for the multiple offenses.

You are using the wrong benchmark. Try the Quality one.

Nice try - but let's not forget that this place is quality-moderated, pal.

This is quite timely.. Remember when wallace and gromit were forgotten in a NYC yellowcab and went missing right around the time a wallace and gromit film premiered? Kinda like that. *dons cheese hat*
