Thank you, internet, for again introducing me to a fetish I didn't even know I had.

(PS. I love you, madamjujujive!)

I know it's not an animal in a cast but this picture is so incredibly awesome. Some of the others are so pitiously cute I can't bear to look at them again. Especially that one with the kitten in the cat cup.

That first chihuahua must have an enormous right front leg.

I defy you to find something more endearingly goofy than this.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON in that picture loquacious posted? I adore it, but WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

(Oh, and great post. I love that Michelle says, "what I'd like to present to you is a post that I believe will circle the globe 10 times over.")

What about the leopard in the cast of "Bringing Up Baby"?

You can't make it up.

Whatever's going on, that cat totally pwned that boxer.

...and then the boxer came to his senses and ate the cat.

What's going on in that picture?

Well, the dog and the cat were passionately making out and then they got caught by their camera-weilding pet human, who took that picture just as the cat panicked and kicked the dog away.

At least I think so.

All I really know is that that picture sublimely captures the sheer essence of cat and dog in one frame in a way that no other picture ever has before.

The dog, being a dog, is all haphazardly and clumsily sprawled mid-air, as goofy as all dogs are, and taking their licks in the way only a dog can.

The cat, being a cat, is at once agile, calm, dispassionate and yet transparently mortally afraid of being played as the fool. I mean, look at that hindleg kick placement! Look at the comedic, relaxed stance of their forequarters and head!

My partner thinks that kick photo is photoshopped. It's not, right?
posted by arcticwoman at 11:15 PM on March 1, 2006

Pretty clearly is photoshopped. Look at the cats tail, and the artifacts to the left of its ear. The flecks of spit seem in the wrong place too. Still, pretty awesome anyway.

loq's Goofy vs. Wily shot reminded me of this one:

What's the connection to a cast? You just know that kitty's front paws are squarely on a plunger wired to dynamite.
posted by rob511 at 11:48 PM on March 1, 2006

*zooms in on image* Damn, that is a photoshop. The whole right edge of the cat from head to hindquarters is a big fat mask and gaussian blur with like some shadow or something, and unzoomed it looks quite a lot like the back-shadow you get with a flash. The tail looks like a spray paint or clone and there's a mask line between the rear right leg and torso near the base of the tail. I also thought the "spit" was a lens artifact or dirt for some reason.

I've seen the dog-only original of that photoshopped picture, probably on some "ain't that just the cutest thing!" blog.

I notice pink is a very popular color for pet casts.

It's a shame none of their pet friends ever seem to sign them, though.

Awww. Makes me want to go home and break both of kitty's front paws so she can be featured on that site.
Or maybe I'll just photoshop a couple of casts on her instead.

The kung-fu cat pic was photoshopped, but it's worth noting that the cat roundhouse kicked it's owner until he was forced to photoshop it.
posted by hellbient at 10:40 AM on March 2, 2006

Cute.

Cute, cute.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyy too cute.

But the photoshop of the kung-fu cat set the balance right, and now everything's peachy.
