That sales pitch might actually work on me, Dave Faris. If I can be a cartoon and never have to fiddle with focus or framing or any other dumb-ass detail of videoblogging, it starts to sound fun. Thanks for this. posted by cgc373 at 4:14 PM on February 12, 2007
Damned smart idea—the tech is there. The random samples of the videos on front page of the site were pretty awful thought—you'd think they'd push some really solid content to sell visitors on it, considering the higher-than-average buy-in required to use it.

This is giving me a seriously Infinite Jest vibe (specifically the parts about people hating how they looked on videophones and coming with various ways to videophone without their ugly mugs being shown). posted by sparkletone at 8:16 PM on February 12, 2007
Wait...what makes this any better than just having an mp3? All it does is add size. Watching a cartoon mouth words doesn't add anything to it.
Isn't this equivalent to what Ashlee Simpson did back in '04? Would you go to a concert to have somebody lip sync? Then why watch a cartoon do it? posted by DarkElf109 at 10:44 PM on February 12, 2007
My mom has been sending me these american greetings cards that are awfully similar. Hers are a talking cat. It's cute but creepy. posted by nomisxid at 7:44 AM on February 13, 2007
