I blame our societies obsession with cute on the neo-cons.
With so much ugliness and war in the world we're forced to search out lolcats to help us deal. posted by Mick at 11:06 AM on October 28, 2007 [1 favorite]
omg, mjjj, that foot action killed me. Seriously. I'm a zombie now. posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 11:15 AM on October 28, 2007
I like the smacking sounds the baby porcupine makes, and how it looks like Albert Einstein. posted by jessamyn at 11:54 AM on October 28, 2007 [2 favorites]
From this post, I learned that porcupines have the dexterity of squirrels and monkeys. Good to know. They'll use that ability, along with their disarming cuteness, come the revolution.
The apple-eating puppy, however, was a waste of bandwidth. posted by mumkin at 12:26 PM on October 28, 2007
that melon slice is bigger than the kitty!
also, i totally forgot about the sneezing panda video. i haven't seen it in a couple of years, but about the first 200 times i saw it it made me laugh hysterically. posted by Quidam at 1:03 PM on October 28, 2007

Awww so much cuteness in one little post. That duckling sharing his bread crumbs with the carp is precious. *insert high-pitched squeal here*
I wonder why it is that we think it's cute when little baby creatures make smacking sounds while they eat, but if our friends or family members do it we're grossed out. posted by amyms at 3:37 PM on October 28, 2007
amyms, good question. I think there's special permission for babies.
madamjujujive, aww, those happy-waggly feet! That tiny rascal ate with such gusto. Adorable.
dirtynumbangelboy, loved that limply lazy cat. Too pooped from work to think but there's a really good LOLCATism in that video, just waiting to be articulated. posted by nickyskye at 4:51 PM on October 28, 2007
I think everyone's smacking noises are cute, within reason. Neoteny is usually the reason generally for the "when babies do it it's cute but when others do it, it's creepy/gross/nasty" vibe posted by jessamyn at 4:58 PM on October 28, 2007 [1 favorite]

wtf is up with the cat who uses a fork and chopsticks? Is it a joke? That made my brain hurt. posted by smartyboots at 9:51 PM on October 28, 2007
Hadn't seen that cat eats with fork and chopsticks one in years, amazing. Wondered how the hell she did that. ah ha "Faye Murrell, also of Tampa, worked for nine months to teach her cat Tessa to eat at the table with a knife and fork, which are attached to her paws with Velcro wrist straps." posted by nickyskye at 4:19 AM on October 29, 2007
Just curious: how is it that this woman is holding a porcupine without wearing some sort of protective armor? Or gloves at least? Cute or not, I thought porcupine quills were involuntarily delivered to intruders -- but she's not looking like a pincushion.
For shame sir.
